Thanks Akif.

Just wondering if you can add code so that when you change the timeframe on the chart, the vertical line for the Midas start point stays in the same place? When I change the timeframe, the vertical line moves, which can be a little frustrating. Thanks.

Hi there Akif, thanks for the indicator.

Is it possible to add the bottomfinder to the V1 indicator? Is there any reason why you didn't do it?

Also, this indicator you coded is a "no volume" version or it is using the tick volume data?

If using tick volume already, can you please code a "no volume" version?

The algorithm is symmetric, so this is actually a topfinder/bottomfinder algorithm and yes it uses tick volume. The whole MIDAS concept is depend on VWAP so, at this moment I don't want to create a no volume version. But the source code is open so if you can code, you can easily create your own version of it.

Top Bottom Finder indicator

(info)
Top Bottom Finder

A Most Unusual Indicator
Paul Levine developed the TB-F in order to characterize an accelerated price move while it is in progress. He recognized that a price trend that is sufficiently rapid—accelerated—is a powerful, almost explosive event. Such events do not meander on endlessly; they have uniquely recognizable beginnings, middles, and ends. Each accelerated trend has a specific amount of cumulative trading volume that it consumes during its run, and once that is expended, the move is over. The purpose of the TB-F, when applied to anaccelerated trend that is in progress, is to identify, from the behavior that the trend has already displayed, what the total cumulative volume of the trend will have been once it ends. Having such information is, of course, very valuable to the trader, because then the trader can identify the end of the trend when it arrives, without having to wait for subsequent price action to reveal that the end has already passed. To learn more about the T-B Finder download the "MIDAS Technical Analysis: A VWAP Approach to Trading and Investing in Todays Markets" - by Andrew Coles and David Hawkins.

When and How to Use The T-B Finder

  1. Identify an accelerated price move.
  2. Launch a T-B Finder curve fitted to point D which is the first pullback of the accelerated price move.
  3. Identify where the curve ends; the burnout point (100% of the cumulative volume or "fuel" used up), and
  4. Imply that where it ends will result in some form of price response, often a correction back to MIDAS.

Parameters

  1. Volume Step: 5
  2. T-B F Percent Color: Red
  3. T-B F Font Size: 16
  4. T-B F Percent Distance: 12

I think the way it is to be used is like this...

The example pictured is a little late but if I had placed it sooner when it had just turned back down a few candles you can trade back to the level where the line is

Hi Julio,

cfudge is correct, you use the panel to fit the t-b finder to point D.

Important notes

  1. For point D to qulify a minimum of 20% cumulative volume or "fuel" have to be spent at point D.
  2. Price can not break the t-b finder after the fitting point.
  3. Only works with accelerated trends.

Read the t-b finder chapter in the book linked for more info

Good Luck,
