The clip below is an NZ power company advertisement from the TV. Much of this was filmed very near my home....in fact the last few shots of the wind farm I can see very clearly from my window here. I live on one side of the ranges where the wind farm is, and my mother lives on the other side, so I travel this road at least once every week. I'll write some more with some pictures under the clip below.....

So the picture below is the road I travel to go see my Mum. This is the same wind farm used in the clip above. These ranges (Tararua and Ruahine Ranges, separated by the Manawatu Gorge) are actually a fault line that makes up part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Consequently we get earthquakes here quite often. Mostly small rumbles but sometimes bigger ones that make things in the house fall over!
The little town you can see from up here just after the wind farm is where my Mum lives. The town is Woodville.

Today is the birthday of the legend, Mr Otis Redding, American singer-songwriter, record producer. After appearing at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival Redding wrote and recorded his iconic '(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay' with Steve Cropper. The song became the first posthumous No.1 record on the Billboard Hot 100 and The Dock of the Bay became the first posthumous album to reach No.1 on the UK Albums Chart. Great pics of your home town area RJ. Woodville eh, from my horse racing days I remember watching the closed circuit TV of races from that local track in NZ
And Mr Redding, what a talent of the time he was. I was 15 I reckon when I bought his Dictionary Of Soul album once it was released in Oz (and played it and played it again lol).

I have never taken a trip outside my country yet ... But I plan to travel to know many places....New Zealand is on my list!!!
I am fascinated by life in the countryside ... I currently live in a big city but I was born and raised on small farms .... God gave us this beautiful wonderful world, to be explored and known, how many beautifull paisagens !!!
you must be very happy to pass these roads always hahaha the place where we grew up, never leaves the heart.

The most recent larger earthquake near my home was 5.7 which struck at night time. Most things in the house are secure so (for instance) the cupboard doors cannot open and spill all the plates and food onto the floor, and my computer monitors are screwed to my desk so they won't fall over. But the doors were swinging wildly and pot plants and things all fell over....even my fish pond lost half of it's water! It was scary as there is no way to know if it will get bigger or if it will stop. Our houses are built to handle large earthquakes, so the house won't fall down
Easter Island, Chile, Peru and Brazil are places that I must see soon. I have many friends here from many countries in Latin America...including Brazil so I need to spend time there as, like you just said, this beautiful world is just waiting for us to explore it all. If you come to NZ, I have a guest room and music is always playing here, so you're welcome to stay. And yes....I always smile when I use that road over the ranges

They still have the occasional horse race there in Woodville too!! It's a nice little town where most people know each other and look out for each other.
