Is there anybody who has traded successfully with an EA for three months? I have never found one yet!

That depends on your definition of 'success'. I'm quite sure the most successful traders in the world use robots. The problem with most EA-users is, I think, 3-fold.

  1. They let them trade in all market conditions and at all times (unless they've intentionally tried to code them to detect and avoid unfavorable conditions and that's often worse).
  2. They assume the EA will keep them safe even though they've never actually learned to trade profitably without one.
  3. They blame changing market conditions on the EA and switch to a different one without realizing that aggressive profits they were making had to be returned eventually in some form. While there might be long-term winning EAs, there are no loss-less EAs, systems or traders. They all go through rough patches when markets change and they are always changing.

Furthermore, I've noticed a pattern among EA devs, and actually this happens in all software.

  1. Stage 1 they create a sleek bare-bones MVP of an idea that contains only the necessary code to enter and exit according to the terms of the idea. These bots either live up to the promise of the idea early, and get worked on, or they get discarded, so right away, we're dealing with some aspect of survivorship bias when it comes to 'successful' EAs.
  2. After a while the coder notices some minor bugs, remembers some features they wanted to add, and starts thinking about optimizing the performance, because if 300% per month is a good RoR, then 3000% is even better. The bugs get fixed, the enhancements get added, create new bugs, those get fixed, the optimization process starts and
  3. 22 versions later the EA is a complete mess, doesn't even do what it originally did well, and has so many inputs that it's impossible to know which one is responsible for the decline in performance. The EA gets discarded. For this reason I always keep older versions of promising EAs to study because these are often better than their 'updated' counterparts, minor bugs and all.

Nothing really too crazy is an algorithm based on several Indicators, with entry and exit rules based on ATR Values.

Hello @candyman752 . I would be most grateful if you are spare sometime to develop for me an EA that that will monitor a trade (by ticket number or comment, i.e. anything to identify just that trade) and open an opposite trade of the same lot size (TP and SL not required, i.e no take profit or stop loss) when the monitored trade has reached a predefined number of pips in loss, and remove the TP (target profit) of the original trade. Example:

I BUY 0.1 lot of pair XX with TP. Pair XX now 100 pips in loss, EA opens a SELL order of 0.1 of pair XX with no TP or SL and the original TP of the BUY order removed (changed to 0). Many thanks

I attached the instructions ( Hope you understand my English) let me know if it's something possible to code or not. the main use is to backtest not really for live trading, I want test how the strategy works on every single pair and maybe trim in a different way the Indicators for each or some of the pairs
