I need historic tick data for my mt4. What is the recommended method on getting oanda historic data.

Does Oanda allow for someone to have multiple accounts? And is it possible to have 2 MT4 on same computer and phone

Unsure about MT4, as I do not use it. You can have 1 account and multiple subaccounts, at least this is the case with oanda Europe.

Oanda allows multiple sub mt4 accounts. Regarding installing multiple mt4 apps on one computer, yes, it allows and i use multiple apps+accounts myself on my computer. To do it just following instructions at this site...

Multiple sub-accounts is standard for OANDA no matter wherever their subsidiaries are located.

Of course, they're lying. The platform has always been slow to load up, even slower to flip to the 1 minute time frame. From the beginning from 2 years ago.

You gotta accept that brokers are going to cheat. It's possible to win around it, until you can't because they delay the price feed whe you're on a setup on a lower time frame. Not Oanda, but just an example of a cheat for say like a swing trade. If you go to take profit, suddenly your ticker isn't there on the platform. It doesn't even show up. You must reboot the platform in order for the ticker to show up, then to exit the trade. This usually takes off a percentage of your winnings.

Newbs, it is possible to win at trading with this crap if you accept that it exists.

I'll stick with the only other option until that one puts me out on a small acct. If they behave long enough, I'll load up more money.

it's sad that you have to quit this broker. it's a break of trust as well. I also considered this broker for a while but later on scrapped the idea of using them, now I am considering IG US , fxchoice or IB futures. do you know or have an
experience with any one of these brokers ? any knowledge ? Best, RB

For about five months now, I've been experiencing a constant 2 minutes delay via mt4 during off peak hours, mainly asia session. I can deal with it. Today for several hours I've been watching 5 minute days. Before we even BEGIN, it's NOT my computer. Could it be settings on mt4? Maybe. Could it be Oanda? Hi Ric, I hope you are doing well there. I consider you an expert guy in fx on this forum. so , I want to know what you think about 2dollardog 's comments about datafeed delay with oanda. have you noticed the same delay ? your view on this issue matters a lot.

Im a day trader and my account base currency is EUR and i live in Europe. Most of my trades are USD crosses. In terms of account/banks fees, do you guys recommend i change my base currency to USD or keep it as EUR because its where i live?

If this was the case why wouldn't you just arbitrage the difference between brokers?

Yeah, I'm seconding that question I knew a guy that was playing with arbitrages... it seemed to work for some time, but kinda lost the contact later, because I didn't want to affect my trading... But I do know he later quit trading so I derived my conclusion from that But I am sure interested in that.. BTW I did noticed prices lagging between different brokers, platforms, websites.. BUT haven't done a deeper analysis to a point where I could seriously confirm this vs not being just case... Not my focus of trading but would love to hear more... SentiFX I think you nailed the question, but if someone would really have the answer to that one, he would be quiet as chit because that would be the ultimate inside...

Latency is not that important to me for my (current) style of trading so you might be better expert at this but I must say that Oanda is far from bucketshop, from my experience at least.. Haven't chacked the latest ranking/volume etc... but it still seems rather fine broker... Was kinda surprised of their recent marketing activities.. because their core position since beginning was to be just "IT company" that just happens to be in the FX business.. They seem to be "slightly" more marketing based... They are just "one cold call" away of being "officially" the same as many that cold-call even potential customers...

Also, if you are talking about FxTrade opening slowly.. their mobile version seems to be much faster.. I sometimes use them in paralell, I do admit that, because in the desktop version, sometimes window for close is opening "forever"... But what about Metatrader option that they provide?

My only negative for OANDA, after 10+ years!... Have deposited/withdrawn "much" without ANY problems... that means a lot...
I had trouble getting their support recently... their webchat support was much better some time ago, maybe too many customers or the support downsizing, also didn't like some redirections/languages in the support interface...

But let me continue to the "only" negative... it is that they do not offer accounts somewhere else.. that are outside of rather ridiculous regulations, specially for EU division.. the EU division had much edge, now it is even worse.. US divison not much better, but still somewhat better now... Of course it depends on the style of trading... for more bigger AUM trading... might not be much difference.. but for high-risk trading, high-leverage.. that, I believe, many here are interested... it started to suck So I opened a few alternatives.. in ASIA.. It seems the ASIA might lead now... after world is closing in with this leverage.. hope ASIA will remain "FREE" in this business... BTW sad about AU also... Hope ASIA will hold to pressure..

oh I see. you mean TWS ( traders worksation ? ) I think that's the only platform they offer, right ?

Ok I made a full withdrawal yesterday.. at oanda.. by BANK.. Got full money TODAY.. Took just one day... with no problems.. And yeah, I made some good profit.
No questions asked, no delays, no drama... This is what it is the most important in the overall picture... But sadly broker is not suitable for some "harvest" strategies of mine, due to restricted leverage.. And aside of that, increasing regulation rules are becoming very frustrating... Will still probably use it for larger lower-leverage accounts... The restrictions/regulations become limiting at high-stakes game.. For lower stakes.. still seems one of the most reliable brokers out there... I really like that I can rely on the deposit/withdrawals to be in my bank account in about 1 day for either... Just love this feature and of course their fxtrade platform is supernice...
I still can't view the markets in MT4 as I do in fxtrade... Again, maybe I am conditioned to it since it was my first account and how I started...

Oanda changed their FIFO rules for US residents.

Basically you can't have multiple orders that are the same lots size with TP or stop losses on them.

If you want multiple orders with the same lot size then you have to remove the TP and the SL on all orders, or if you want to keep your TPs and SLs intact then any additional orders must be a different lot size.
