1. Market Data from BitMEX

We know that many of our users are waiting for integration to BitMEX crypto exchange. Such popularity is explained by the fact that it is possible to trade derivatives for different currency crypto (futures).

That's why today we’ve made the first step towards full-fledged integration — we connected the market data from the BitMEX exchange. In the next step, we will add real trading.

But even now, using only market data, you can trade (demo) and practice your trading skills without the risk of losing real money. How to do it?

Trading Simulator panel emulates real-time trading locally on your computer based on real quotes. This allows you to test the trading system in real time, as well as prepare yourself for real trading on the BitMEX exchange. Try it now! GIF is here



2. New panel — Symbol Mapping Manager

This new panel allows you to combine two different connections into one. In this case, quotes are received from one connector and trade orders are sent to the other connector. This is relevant when there is no historical or real-time data (ticks, level 2 quotes, etc.) on the selected trading connection.



For example, OANDA broker does not provide historical tick data, which makes it impossible to use volume analysis tools for currency pairs. But LMAX broker provides a tick history. Therefore, when creating the bind with OANDA + LMAX, it is possible to analyze the chart using the volume analysis directly on one chart and send orders to the OANDA broker.



3. Chart Alerts

Are you worried you missed another entry signal? Now there is no need to monitor the chart all the time while waiting for the signals, it is enough to set an alert on the chart. GIF is here



Alert is located on the sidebar of the chart and marked as a bell icon. When you click on it, a line will appear, which you place on the chart at the desired price. By default, the alert is set on and when the price reaches the specified level, the sound and text notification will appear.

In the additional settings you can set the type of intersection at which the notification will be triggered, actions after the triggering, as well as specify your own notification text.

I suggest you work to integrate Rithmic as soon as possible. It has full market depth for futures which no other feed has at the moment.

Yes, we know that Rithmic has a wider dom. And we are planning to add it this year, guess after CQG.

1. Power Trades Tool

The cornerstone of the current update is the Power Trades tool, which shows the execution of large volumes in a short time. It can be both a large number of orders with a small volume, and vice versa, several orders with large volumes. In any case, the price will react to these levels.

In the tool settings, you can set various parameters that will filter the total volume by time, the minimum or maximum volume value, and the delta. You should also individually select the parameters for each instrument, as they differ in terms of liquidity, number of participants and the nature of the movement.

2. Quick Order Entry panel

This panel combines Chart Trading and FX Cell functionality, allowing you to see the current Bid/Ask prices of the selected instrument, as well as send orders or open positions by market. But unlike the standard FX Cell panel, it is always (!) on the chart. In case you do not need it, you can easily close it by clicking on the "Show/Hide Quick OE" icon on the chart toolbar.

4. Connection to Xena Exchange

A new trade connection to the young crypto-exchange Xena Exchange , which supports the trading of basic cryptocurrencies, as well as trading on the GRAM token with leverage. This currency belongs to the blockchain project Telegram TON, which became one of the most popular ICOs in 2018.

Two weeks ago we've updated the platform (1.35 version) and added:

- cTrader API 2.0 — the second version of cTrader API provides Protocol Buffers and the extended number of requests for third-party softwares.
- Visual changes in Account Manager — All information about user's licenses we moved to the main toolbar.
- Improved management of all open panels — All open panels are visible on the Windows taskbar.

1. cTrader API 2.0

In our platform, we already have an active connection to cTrader, which allows trading with any cTrader broker using our platform. But the first version of the API had many restrictions for third-party softwares, which caused inconvenience in the process.

What are the main advantages over the first version?

 

1. Αccounts API REST requests have been replaced with Protocol Buffers. This means that one technology, called Protocol Buffers, will be used for Account API and Trading API that allows serving much more resource intensive applications.
2. Request Limits Significantly Increased. As a result of switching to Protocol Buffers, request limits have been significantly increased enabling much faster performance for applications using the API, like Quantower.

2. Visual changes in Account Manager

We have made some visual changes to the Account Manager inside the platform:

 

1. replaced the information about the status of licenses from the main menu on the toolbar. Green icon means successful authorization in the license system. Gray icon indicates Log Out status.
2. if you have several licenses — Volume Analysis, Premium, Power Trades, etc. — they all will be visible in one window. For each license, the activity status and expiration date are shown.

3. Changed the management of all open panels

Another change that we have also made in response to numerous requests from users. Now all open panels can be visible on the Windows taskbar without the need to drag other panels.

1. Axiory, Purple Trading

Being powered by cTrader API 2.0 connection, Quantower now allows trading with two more brokers: “Axiory” and “Purple trading”. Both will become available in your Connections screen just after you get the latest update. Use your account credentials, provided by these brokers, to start trading and analysis with cTrader brokers in Quantower.



2. Abbreviative crypto prices

One of the great new features, that was developed based on a traders feedback — an abbreviation of crypto prices. This feature allows you to apply a special “shortening” for prices of Crypto-symbols only, resulting in “useless zeros” removal. The algorithm is simple — we just hide all “0” symbols from the left side of price and replace with “..”, for example, 0.0000145 -> ..145. This feature applies globally for all crypto-symbols in application thus changes price values in all panels.



3. Alerts and filters for indicators in Watchlist

Another great advice from our community lead us to develop a possibility to use calculated values of indicators in Watchlist filtering & alerts. Old Quantower traders already know about the possibility to add indicators in Watchlist and see their values in separate columns. Now you can use that values in Table actions functionality (Settings -> Setup actions) to filter rows of call an alert. This simple and yet powerful possibility is available starting from Free version of Quantower.



4. Omni Trend indicator

The Omni Trend indicator (based on the NRTR indicator by Konstantin Kopyrkin) is a trend indicator that uses Average True Range & Moving Average to generate trading signals: buy — when price reaches the previous high & sell — when the price below the previous low.



5. NRMA indicator

Another interesting indicator that might tell you when go long or short — NRMA indicator. It consists of dots, placed around the price, that suggest bearish (dots are above) or bullish (dots are below) price actions. You can find a lot of information on best practices for this indicator on the internet, but in short: buy when dots are below the price and sell when they are above.

1. Kimura Trading & Trader's way

We continue to expand the list of forex brokers in our platform, which became available thanks to cTrader technology. If you already have a trading account and a cTrader account, you can easily trade with Kimura Trading or with Trader's Way brokers via our platform. To do this, please login with your cTrader ID and confirm your connection to our platform.



P.S. Please note that trading is available from any cTrader broker through our platform. To do this, select cTrader Gateway from the list of connections and log in to Spotware.

2. Power Traders Scanner got predefined templates

In order for Power Trades to work properly, it is important to set the parameters that will best suit the specific symbol. Therefore, to make it easy to use the scanner, we have prepared predefined setup templates for 36 instruments traded on the Binance exchange. These settings are the starting point for the use of Power Trades, and every user can set more precise parameters on their own.
So, the screenshot below shows the list of symbols for which we have prepared templates.



3. Quantower Algo is now compatible with Visual Studio 2019

With Quantower Algo solution you can create different trading scripts such as indicators and strategies. What is differ Quantower, from other trading platforms - you don't need to study some proprietary language or development environment. You will use the only standard, well-known instruments, that used by developers all over the world.

Starting with the current release, our extension now works in the new and improved Visual Studio 2019 which works faster. Try it now.



4. Level 2 indicator

The indicator shows DOM levels with volumes at each price level directly on the chart. This allows you to monitor changes in the DOM without having to open the panel itself.
In the settings of the indicator, you can specify the required number of levels, colors, as well as the width of the occupied area on the chart.



5. Indicator of Separated ATRs

This is a volatility indicator that shows the difference between the two ATR indicators:

1. the first ATR takes into account only the growing bars
2. the second ATR only counts falling bars.

6. Symbol Description on the chart

On the background of the chart, we have added the name of the trading instrument, which you can optionally enable/disable in the general settings of the panel.

1. RealTimeData (RTD) Function

Quantower 1.39 supports Real-Time Data (RTD) function for sending data and other market information to Microsoft Excel®. This feature opens up many opportunities for creating custom displays and other ways to better manage your workflow. For instance, you can transmit real-time market data, account info to analyze it on your own. You can use our example Excel file to evaluate RTD possibilities.



2. New Data Feed ActiveTick

We have added ActiveTick to our connections list as a provider of real-time, delayed and historical market data for different instruments — Forex, Futures, Stocks, Options. This feed provides access to the NYSE, NASDAQ, BATS, CME, CBOE exchanges. The full list of available exchanges and subscription prices you can see on the official website of the data feed.



3. LYNX Broker

New exchange broker in our connections list, which is the official representative of the Interactive Brokers. LYNX offers exceptionally low trading fees for transactions in stocks, options, futures, warrants, forex and other products. Start trading with LYNX via Quantower platform.



4. Binance got Market Data mode

The Info Mode lets you connect to the Binance exchange without using the API key, and receive real-time data for all available cryptocurrencies. This mode will be useful for a complete analysis of the market situation, including with the help of Volume Analysis Tools, Order Flow, and various chart types.



5. Search improvements in the symbol lookup

Two improvements that have simplified the Searching process of trading instruments in the platform:

1. instruments search without entering special symbols. For example, you can enter a ticker of currency pair with or without “/” as well as other symbols, and the search system will still show correct results.
2. instruments search is possible in any language. If you have several languages and forgot to switch to English during the searching, the system still recognizes the ticker of the trading instrument.

- VWAP Indicator is a “benchmark” or fair price of an asset for any period of the trading day or session.

1. VWAP Indicator

Volume Weighted Average Price knows as VWAP is a “benchmark” price of an asset for any period of the trading day or session. The average price is weighted by volume for evaluating the overpaying or underpaying of current price relative to the VWAP price.



2. Alpha Vantage Market Data Provider

Alpha Vantage offers realtime and historical data on Stocks, Forex, and digital/crypto currencies. Access to the data is provided via the API Key, which can be with a free subscription and limited by the number of requests (5 API requests per minute; 500 API requests per day). A premium API key gives a higher API call volume.



3. Volume Bars chart type

Volume Bars are built based on volume data — tick or exchange volume when available. Time is not involved in this aggregation. Each bar in a Volume Bar chart contains a specified volume level. This volume level is reached by accumulating the volume of each of the underlying bars. When the volume level is reached, the next Volume Bar begins to accumulate volume from the underlying bars.

How to use VWAP in trading?

VWAP has numerous application in the trading world. It is helpful for both institutional investors and retail intraday traders. Below are some well-known applications of VWAP:

1. It helps in Buying low and Selling High. If the price is below VWAP, it is considered as undervalued, while price above VWAP is considered as overvalued.
2. Crossing of prices above/below VWAP line in chart indicates momentum shift or change of trend.
3. VWAP is also used as a trading benchmark by institutional investors who are not worried about the timing of the trade, but who are concerned about the adverse impact of their trades on the price of the security.
4. VWAP serves as a reference point for prices for one day. As such, it is best suited for intraday analysis. Chartists can compare current prices with the VWAP values to determine the intraday trend.
5. VWAP indicator can be used as a dynamic support/resistance line during sideways market.

For intraday trading, we have found that it is possible to trade the return of the price to VWAP on small timeframes. For example, let's consider ES (e-mini S&P500) futures on the 5-minute chart with an hourly VWAP.

An important point in this tactic is that the distance between the VWAP value and the closing price should be significant.

1. DOM Surface Panel

The liquidity analysis in the Order Book gives a key to understanding the market and allows you to see patterns and levels from which the price can bounce back with a high probability. For this purpose, the Order Flow Surface panel is already available in our platform, which shows all changes and evolution in limit orders in the form of a map. But we went further
Today we are pleased to present DOM Surface — a new and improved tool for professional analysis of order flow. So, let's see what's interesting in it:

1. Added three coloring modes to visualize the liquidity map — Monochrome, Bichrome, Heatmap.

1. The execution of market orders is shown in the form of Circles. Red circles indicate the execution of sell orders, and green circles indicate the execution of buy. The size of the circle corresponds to the order volume. In the settings of the panel, you can set the maximum size of the circle, its opacity, as well as the maximum trade size.

1. In addition to the Last Trade line, you can include Bid/Ask lines on the chart. For each line, you can set any color for a better perception.

1. On the right side of the panel, there are three histograms — Size, Cumulative Size, Order Book Imbalance.
   
   Size shows the volume of limit orders at each price.
   
   Cumulative Size shows the sum of Limit order volumes for each subsequent level. This histogram allows estimating the dominating side of the market.
   
   Imbalance shows how many percents of buyers are more than sellers (and vice versa) for each price level.

1. When you move the cursor over the map area, information on the level and volume at each price will be displayed in the upper left corner. By activating the Info Mode, you can hover over any circle and see the actual size of the executed order.

1. The main bar of the panel has quick settings where you can set the required number of DOM levels, as well as their contrast. This allows you to focus on levels with high liquidity.

1. Added 9 Hot Keys to perform basic trading operations: placing market orders, placing limit orders by the best bid/offer price, canceling orders and closing positions. This is by far great addition which allows you to quickly respond to changing market conditions.

1. We have added an auto-centering of the chart, which aligns the price position in case the bid/ask lines go beyond the chart visibility.

2. Coinbase Pro (GDAX) is available for charting & analytics

We continue to expand the list of connections in the platform. Today we are pleased to introduce Coinbase Pro known as GDAX in market data mode. This mode allows you to analyze all available cryptocurrencies without using the API Key or any login data.

3. Quantower Chart Style

We made small visual changes on the well-known candle chart — shadows of the candles have the same thickness of the candle itself and added transparency to them. This chart style we called "Quantower" and you can choose it from a list of chart styles.



4. Alerts for Indicators

At the user's request, we added alerts for indicators. After setting an alert on the necessary indicator, it will be active until the specified condition is met. Alert placement is performed in the same way as on the main chart, i.e. through the "Bell" icon

1. Custom Coloring Mode for Cluster Chart

The new color scheme for the cluster chart will allow experienced traders to define more precisely the places and levels with a large volume, number of trades and delta. This is very similar to filtering, which at a given value of the cluster will apply the necessary color.
As an example, let's see how it works on ES futures.

Go to the chart settings and select the desired data type on which to build the cluster. Then select Custom coloring in Cluster Visualization. Additional color settings will appear for the three cluster levels. At the first level, we will set 1000 contracts in one cluster, at the second 2000 and at the third 5000. For each level, set green, blue and red colors, respectively.

If you zoom out the chart, then due to the color filtering we can see clusters with large volumes, i.e. zones of high interest.



2. Connection to Huobi Global

Added a new trading connection to the popular Huobi Global cryptocurrency exchange. This exchange offers traders 200+ cryptocurrencies and 500+ trading pairs. As for other crypto exchanges, here we also added two connection modes:

1. Info, allows you to connect without an API Key and make the necessary analysis of the selected cryptocurrency.
2. Trading mode. Requires unique API & Secret Keys to perform trading operations.

3. Custom Tick Size for Chart and DOM Surface

This setting allows you to “align" the chart to the desired tick size. For example, some data providers and exchanges do not provide the minimum value by which the price of a trading instrument changes. As a result, the price scale uses the wrong value of the price, creating gaps. This is especially noticeable on the Order Flow or DOM Surface charts. Using this setting, you can more accurately set the minimum price change and get the correct price display.



4. Added the function of minimizing a panel

Any open panel, group or bind can be minimized to the taskbar by clicking Minimize button. This function is quite simple and allows you to more conveniently work with open panels.



5. Changed the calculation of tick directions

We improved the mechanism for calculating tick directions, which is involved in volume tools. Earlier, when a new trade executed, if the price did not change, then the volume of this trade we referred to the None category and it did not refer to Buy or Sell. As a result, the total volume of trades marked None reached 50% of the total trading volume.
Now, if a new trade has the same price as the previous trade, it is assigned a category, like the previous trade.
