Should help a bit but most trades are on the GBPCAD though.

A small hint here of upcoming potential CAD weakness showing on the USDCAD. Again only technical which isn't going to be enough to get us out of our trades. The size of this engulfing candle right near 1.35 could help us a bit if we get a decent reversal here. If the CAD falls a good amount against the USD here, it could transfer into the crosses.

Hello everyone! Sorry for my absence of the past week! I've been in the middle of a move and have had guests staying over at my new place for the past week. I'm very behind on responding to sooo many messages. Anyway, yes we are in drawdown right now and it's heavy. What's going on with the brexit situation has gone from bad to worse as some are saying the UK government is on the verge of collapse. I'm hoping for a bit of a pullback when the market opens and over the next 24 hours. I do fear the GBP will continue to fall more though after a small...

Did you install the provided set files properly? They have the serial number information embedded.

Thanks Cubbybgood for the EA and setfiles.
Just a couple of thoughts about the current DD. Why not manually close the worst trade when the account gets to 10% DD? This will allow the EA to do its job in either getting to TP more easily or take another trade and thus trade to the TP.
Also why not reduce the EA's ability to take 100 trades and take only 10 for example. Make the grid larger so that in the event we are caught in a major trend (the EA's Achilles Heel) we don't become 'cannon fodder'.
Also, why use the 'EA - close all' when the testing shows that a 50 pip TP works? Surely this reduces our ability to generate the profits we tested for? Or have I mis-interpreted the EA?
Again thanks. It works for me.

@Cubbybgood does this EA utilize any other kind of profit taking strategy besides the close all EA at 50 pips? I mean does it have any other kind of cost averaging? I ask cos if the EA only waits for 50 pips profit and with the account currently in more than -1600 pips DD we could be waiting a long time to close back to profit. If the EA did a kind of cost averaging so the oldest positions would be averaged out into profit this could help a lot in closing out positions and reducing DD quicker. This approach works well in grid based strategies and...

Yes! Soooo many different ways to trade this EA! My set file IS NOT the only way. After this brexit feasco, I will be releasing a new setfile that includes a % loss cut-off. It's really what i should have done before but it has been a while since we've had a heavy DD like this. They are happening more often in the strategy overall though. Probably wise to go this rout from here on out. The EA will likely still be very profitable but we will have to except some losses down the road...

I'm looking at this now. Could take a while to find the best % cut-off. So far, it looks like a 15% loss cut-off with all the same GBPCAD settings may work. Losses do happen but it seems to be a good start. The loss cutoff shouldn't be too low as a grid system needs a bit more room to breath. I will be experimenting with the "Close by %" loss cut-off, the "close by pips profits" and "grid size" mostly to find the best settings here. will probably take me a week or so but right now try the -15% cut-off % on the GBPCAD. Shows good results.

grids do work per se. given there is a sound first entry, a reasonable pacing, and achievable take profit numbers.
what doesnt work is trading too large lot size vs the equity size.
less greed=less headache. it is the most difficult part to implement with a grid system.
there is always, always another trade!!

Hi Nowornever

Grids can work very well if you delay entering the first trade to a price level that has been optimized in testing. The spacing of the trades does not matter either provided the testing has been completed correctly. I trade a grid MEME trade system that uses average pricing plus a set optimized take profit and it provides me a very nice wage. Size of trades does not matter either, only the size of the account and the willingness to accept 20% draw downs about three times a year.

The secret is to delay the first trade - How do we do that?
Trading thin liquidity at the boundary of the charts

I already posted a picture proof in a similar thread recently..

Grids do work, but people take this as a warranty for profits. It is a challenging trading approach and this current drawdown perfectly shows the lack of most traders/losers making money using this technique. Of course there are way more factors to consider, but in general EVERY grid will test your mindset sooner or later.

Do not forget: the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent!

Yes, I would just try reloading the set files, then reboot MT4, and you should be good.

Hi Drolph, any hints on how to use different techniques? I guess a diversification amongst different pairs just won't do the trick.
The biggest risk is not taking a risk.
