Is the CHF still a safe haven currency?

Just wondering, seems to me that CHF no longer behaves like a safe haven currency; or at least to a much lesser extent.

Anyone..?

hi R......CHF is a strong currency and well deserved if looking at the economic numbers........mind you, the Swish central bank always tries to lower the exchange rate..........a safe have it is not.......look at what happened in 2008; the Swish frank went down from 105 JPY to 75 JPY and all other currencies went down against the yen.....so the safe haven currency in a crisis is really the yen.

Defently it is, but I think price of chf controled mostly by swiss central bank based on their outlook. They have plenty of EUR/Dollar/Frank reserves to move it at any way they want. To trade Frank you need some black swan event and be very quick. That is my 2 cents.

For sure it is, I have done more with it than with some other currencies in the last past years. But about the crisis, many people say that only bigger waves of crisis are moving into the right directions and we should expect second wave of that very very soon.

if I would look for safety, I wouldnt look at any currencies at all... would prefer to buy gold...
but if I would be forced to choose... I would say it depends what kind of safety are we talking about, for what scenario?
For minor crysis etc... it seems to be... but if there would be any bigger events... mind you the last "crysis" was heavily suspended by (increase) in debt...
SWISS burned a lot of gold to keep the CHF down... a lot of things are so tight that if we get the next one, picture would be much different..
I would still prefer to hold cash of the superpowers.. If I have to have some cash... it is best to HEDGE it... but GOLD always seems a better option, if we are talking SAFETY...

Well for my 10 pence worth. The Chinese government as part of their tactics regarding the trump war. Is to de-value the currency. This will improve their exports. This is one of the reason the dollar is doing so well at the moment. They will get goods and material into USA cheaper, but this will kill their exports and companies will struggle and in the long term cause unemployment.

What has this got to do with CHF?

Swish Frank. No way is this a safe haven. It was pinned by the swish government for years. Then they pulled the plug 2015 and cause a financial disaster never seen before. I would not touch this pair in a million years.
