AUD has been selling for two consecutive weeks and now they r looking to cut rates even further! I've a few DDs from last week (longs) and was looking for Aud to gain this week. Since sentiments project a rate cut, if that happens might be very bad for the currency.

Fundamentally favored, Good for my AUD bull

Exited EA off this news at the WPP, a nice ride with the positive swaps

Tempted to get some AN shorts off this news, but will hold off until RBNZ announcement - the best position is sometimes no position!

Had to trade those gaps. Waiting on UJ to close its gap. Otherwise done for the day. Trading Economics had AU Cash Rate Forecast at 1.50 so I trust it more than FF Calendar.

{quote} Chances are high for a rate cut. It would uplift housing market that collapsed in the latest releases. AUD pairs are tempting because overstretched in many cases and at the same time dangerous for high ADRs and possible rates cut tonight.

My fault, I did not delve into it well, I operated more based on a gut feeling (that sometimes is good) instead of real info, bottom line I closed my AJ long before rate announcement for a moderate profit and left about 50 pips on the table.

The renewed tensions between US and China penalize CJ long trade as JPY is recovering as a safe-haven currency supported by a good PMI outcome too.
The gap at the start of the week is still there to be closed.

Took it yesterday, even 3% of the account actually. As it seemed stupid idea to cut rates I had to be prepeared and decrease risk. So back to saddle and carry on.

an observation of upcoming NZD Cash Rate:
FF expects same - 1.75%
myfxbook consensus 1.50%
investing forecast 1.50%
dailyfx forecast 1.50%
fxstreet consensus 1.50%

i was not looking at other sources often earlier, but also on today's AUD Rate forecasts were different
i am wondering how come do they differ, anyone has been looking deeper into this?

Why would you short AZ now? NZD economy not in good state, and factoring in interest rate later today, and sentiments unchanged, most likely NZD will get a beating immediately after news. I would rather wait and buy NZD later

Agree best stay clear of NZD if anything I am still long on AN which I am confident holding (old trades)but did not add any new NZD trades.
Still short on GC and sold Yen cross the board.I think gaps will close they usually almost always do.

I saw same issue too. But thinking are predictions then you can't believe anyone. Anyway last NZD news were not bad. Thinking all economy is slowdowning i don't think NZD is economy with more problems now. And other currencies are in a depreciation race now

Yeah, you're right, i should probably wait for the dip and then buy. But if NZD is truly weaker than the AUD my thoughts are that price will drop before news release allowing more buys at a lower price for AUD to push higher this evening, which I will be out of before the rise. Guess we'll see.

Cheers,
Ben

The other side of the coin - NZD is heavily sold against all the pairs EUR,GBP,AUD ( all are above or close to 61 level) which means Price already in a position to fall/rise after the news. Just a thought.
