Hi pannet1
To answer your questions…
when using scouts you may see loads of losing trades
- metatrader stats at the bottom, rubbished
- i am not killing the scouts ... because my skew is very close to it and cannot afford to it. Is this a wrong way to look?
- scout plays well, enter into attack, else rescue. there are only two choices.
- you gave me the basic tools necessary to read the equity curve. will look at it every week.
So here there is a misunderstanding between us, the stats are rubbish because of the way they are calculated, it does not allow for the way we trade with skew and scaling to be taken into account, I was not picking you out for not killing scouts, it is up to you how you use your scouts and the market will show you if you are doing it correctly for the way you trade as your experience travels along its journey/path, I was using the scout issue as an example of how the stats could show you some bad figures for your trades won/lost, so say you have a very bad run and lose say 10x scouts then you hit a really good run in which you only have say 4 entries, but because you got to the attack stage and it worked out very well the stats would show won=4 and lost=10, it is misleading in its overall outcome because those 4 trades that you won put you way in profit.
- was thinking curve needs to be around 45 deg. though it never altered my MO. thanks for the eye opener.
What can I say …. Rigid thinking!, so long as you are making your capital increase in a consistent and steady manor why 45 degrees? This puts you under pressure to perform and that will affect you once it deviates from those expectations.
you/me are the biggest (and only) threat to the states (books) survival
- no trying to prove anyone. am the only threat. the ant's job could all go in drain with one small mistake.
Again maybe there is a misunderstanding here, I am not saying you are trying prove anything, I am pointing out that in my experience this needs careful and meticulous study,
AOW….
24. Now the general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple
ere the battle is fought. The general who loses a battle makes but few
calculations beforehand. Thus do many calculations lead to victory, and
few calculations to defeat: how much more no calculation at all! It is by
attention to this point that I can foresee who is likely to win or lose.
- Regarding skews, i hope you are not using fixated as in fixed. Chief advised to remain in a skew for atleast a year before exploring others. Right ?
- skews will not save me from wrong trade. they can only minimize the damage.
- if attack skew was attempted early, it could damage the entire book, because the base size increase. Also my attack is weak (1, 1, 2), so if it backfires at the final 2, i could take out 3, so that i have always 1 as the base.
Most people think the skews alone will make them profitable and save them when in trouble, they eventually find out this is not the case, you said somewhere that the deeper we go into the skews the more money we make, this is a very sharp double edged sword to play with, you also say above about ‘they can only minimize damage’ well they can also make things a lot lot worse for you very quickly if you enter and some unexpected news hits the wires, it will trap you in a very bad position and your decision will be cut with the heavy loss or risk trading on??? I know because all these things have happened to me and when I first started using the skews I thought they were the answer to all my trading problems, they are but one part/tool to use in an adaptable manor of a complex mix of this type of MO that you will eventually create for yourself. i also see you say you are using some sort algo/ea?? to calculate the trade and it sounds like you are letting this robot put in stops for you, if you are doing this you are playing with fire my friend, if the market gaps past your stop you will automatically be stopped out at a much lower level than than your intended stop be that 10-100 or 1000 pips. this is like what killed loads of accounts and brokers when they removed the CHF peg and it gapped 1000's of pips.
On to your second post now..
I am merely saying what I see and showing you how I would read this trade chart plot, I am not saying you must do this, It helps me so I thought it may be an idea to show you this part of what I do, nothing I say is personally meant to be used against you or anyone else, it is just to demonstrate something I think may be of use to you, if not then no problem just do not use it, we are on a global platform and for some who are here, English is not their mother language, so there are bound to be misunderstandings in the literal translation process, you will if you choose to use this ‘spy in your own camp’ have to be very self-aware and self-analytical/critical of what you are doing and the way your chart plot is moving, in this type of analysis only the chart trade plot and the balance matter, the stats are meaningless due to the way we trade with varying trade sizes, so please do not worry over the numbers/stats there, the chart trend will show you how you are doing and that is all you really need, when you go outside the trend you produce look at why and try to learn from what you see you had done there.
Regards
Phil.
