Ok, so i simplified my strategy even further. I'll update it with the post on page#1

I removed volume profile completely. Before I used the volume profile to find the POC as possible entry and anticipate its move. Well I no longer do that because now I am only using support/resistance and today's high/low (and yesterday high/low) for entries.

POC is important in certain context, but what i realize is, using it as entry point means my entry will ALWAYS be within value (from volume profile perspective). So if i'm already using vwap as indication of fair value, it doesn't make sense to fade at poc (value area) to fade into another value area (vwap).

Everything else is the same. I fade and trade breakout/trends at the same time; depending on the structure. The only other indicator I use besides vwap is ATR (average true range). This gives me insight into where the current day range is relative to the the last 10 days range. If the current day is at or over the range, then my trend/breakout targets is very convservative. I also am looking into the changes in the ATR to adjust my position when NQ expands its range.

So that's that, vwap and ATR make up my strategy. Both resonates with my understanding of how market works, and both are used to help me manage risk.

I get aggressive on setups with the trend and breakouts and conservative on others. So I think this variable risk profile helps me take advantage of the big moves and protect me against those risky range setups.

After initial range loss, i was building long trend/breakout positions that didn't go anyway for few hours and finally decided to take a small upside. Learned something about these failed range setups. Usually means a reversal, but sometimes, the move isn't there and you just have to cut it. The market is usually good at letting you know when you should just walk away.

Got my VPS bill and i'm not sure this is worth it:

for about $30, i have a windows vps. Then on top of that $39/month for journalytix. Shit, i like my journal, but paying +$800/year for this? fuck no

server is $10, they really need to advertise that windows license is not included. That is actually a scam, cause i can get a windows system for $140 flat. it would've been better to pay $140 up front for setup fee...

If anybody know of a cheap server i can run a windows application, please let me know!

well decided to go with accu web hosting. "craig" said it's all included in the monthly without separate charge..ok. we'll see.

consider it business cost. I am paying USD $250 per month for my dedicated server (real server, not VPS).

i doubt that many average joe traders employ black boxes that need this colocation services. and if you are trading taht way, i mean your competition has endless capital and technology to outperform you. it's like trying to play poker with phil ivey instead of just picking the lower stakes

it all depends on the bottom line. previously i run on vps (cost $70 per month), during peak time, i get slipped because of vps cpu get clogged by the many clients using it.

saving 0.1pip per trade compensates for the server cost.

but i just don't see the need for it for manual traders. I already got my cheap ass vps for journalytix, so i'm happy.

next big cost is the monthly leasing. I anticipate i'll apply for membership end of this year or early next year.

There are many benefits, but latency is usually the first. Any trader on lower timeframes will see a benefit with all aspects of execution, whether algo or manual. Redundancy is another great benefit.

This is incorrect. The competition is the entire market, not a specific algo sitting two racks closer to the cme mainframe. Better hardware has little benefit at this level. Coding, that's a different story, but again, you compete against the entire market, not a specific institution. Think about it. In other otc markets there is a tech race that is insanely expensive, but this is why futures is where its at.

Because frankly, my edge is not that great. My MFE/MAE is 1.0! and my win% is just breaking 60%. So i don't have a lot of room to mess up, so the best way to increase my chances is reducing costs.

Right now, my monthly commission is already hitting +$1000. I plan on growin my size at least twice before i finally keep it fixed. At that point i anticipate my commission to be about $2000-2500 /month

Journal/vps = +$600/year
commmission= $12000/year (for now)
platfrom=$180

becoming a member would cut the commission down to >50%.

It's just how I like to treat my trading business. I just want to be efficient as much as i can.
