Armada is not the only IB for LMAX. You could find other IBs with little effort.
Armada Markets it is excellent broker you can start with ECN account with only 300$ their spreads on eurusd and other majors are the best and they have one click trader very fast EA, i sincere recommend Armada i am trading for 3 months with them and i am satisfied, i have withdraw small amount just for testing and i am satisfied with that also.
Excellent broker for example i have a stop loss on 1.34500 and the price goes 1.34505 and my stop loss is remain after that i take some nice profit so i am delighted with armada for now.
If there is a broker offering fixed spreads of 1 pip or less, the catch is they probably require a minimim take profit level (such as 10 pips or even 20 pips or more) meaning if your trade opens and you try to scalp 2 pips or 5 pips etc., the trade won't close until you reach the minimum take profit requirement. For some pairs the minimum take profit might even be as much as 50 pips etc.

Which broker does that? I have never heard of minimum take profit level of 10pips or even 20pips or as much as 50pips. Are you trying to be funny? If not, just post one example of a fixed spread broker doing that.
IC Markets for example, allows you to set very tight stops while taking relatively large take profits. No such restrictions if you study this trade history (losers are all stopped out at 8pips). http://www.forexfactory.com/mmaker#55-list

No, not trying to be funny. Back in 2010 when I was new to Forex, and all nonUS brokers still accepted US clients, I opened an account with 1pipfix, but they had minimum take profit requirements depending on the currency pair (10 pip minimum for majors...and up to 40 pip minimum for AUDNZD).....but I just noticed they don't do that anymore.
The other day in my research I did come across a fixed spread broker with a 20 pip minimum tp...but maybe this is not the norm anymore...
I am also looking for a low spread broker. I am US citizen and I feel like I am at a great disadvantage with the spreads on Oanda that are double, triple or even higher compared to some Australian or UK brokers.

MahiFX have very low fixed spreads and are a market maker. Dont think you will find an ECN/STP broker or broker that wont give you requotes if you want fixed spreads. However, it is possible to find an ECN with much lower spreads but you will need to pay commission.
My advice is to not look for fixed spreads, not even 1 pip fixed spread (I assume EURUSD) which is very high.
I trade through institutional account type and have variable true interbank market spreads. EURUSD spread during London and New York sessions averaging 0,065 pips. Commission 1,65 USD per side.... almost three times cheaper trading than 1 pip fixed spread!

MM broker profiting when a client loses a trade where ECN is earning through commission only. In short, MM brokers are against your interest which is to profit. {quote}

Market Maker / B-Book brokers are able to offer fixed spreads or guarantee stops, such brokers never stream such guaranteed orders to the real marketplace. With the Market Maker business model it is normally in the best interest of such broker for their clients to lose money through.
When 70-80% accounts losing money, only idiot would fry golden eggs laying goose and pass all trades somewhere else. Even so called ecn/stp/dma (self certified ) brokers.
