I don't usually trade small TF, so I will pass on those. Watch for important news for AUD and NZD tonight.

All divergences are relative to the time frame.
A divergence on H1 will not exist on H2 or M30 depending on the chart being viewed.

How to deal with this? Is there any way to determine which timeframe is the correct one?

Verde,

I think it does not matter. If you see a hidden divergence on a timeframe, you just trade it on that timeframe.

I've traded regular divergences before, not the hidden ones, and not from the histogram, so I'm still figuring out the nuances.

Is the HD better from the histogram or from the indicator line peaks ? Would this apply to regular divergence too ?

Is there a difference between regular divergence and HD in win % ?

Just trying to understand how to do this the best way, before I jump in.

Hi Verde,

I use both the MACD lines and histogram, but I find the histogram more responsive. Furthermore, I chose settings that are giving quite a good fit between the MACD histogram and the Stochastic oscillator. I like when both give the same divergence signal, It is another convergence sign to me. I haven't made the stats between regular and hidden divergence, but I find more logical to go with the trend and so does HD. When there is a clear trend, HD is a strong signal. But I use regular divergence for entries as another convergence sign.

Yes, price will have to cross the trendline for an entry.

Thanks chamane, just wanted an experienced opinion as I've never tried HD, and from the histogram.

One pair to monitor on the bear side next week. A HD on the Weekly chart, the MACD line just about to cross the zero line on the Daily chart after a regular divergence. The setup I like, but price can turn around any time. Let's wait and see.

Another pair to check next week, this time on the bull side. Same analysis, HD on the Weekly, MACD cross of zero line (nearly done) after a regular divergence. Price will have to go past that trendline before entry.

This is a long term too. NZDCAD bearish HD on the monthly as well as the weekly chart.
