Oh, I see. I thought you meant you've abandoned all indicators and you're using pure price action.

Throw out indicators.
Focus in on what your good at..
what time of day your trading the best.
what news event days you take horrible losses on.

Build on whats working... Throw away whats not.

Build your own system around what works for you.

Years ago, around 2007 or so, I started learning currency trading. I had 20+ years experience in stock and metals and options, but they are somewhat different animals than currency. but I started watching the charts for several hours each day until what they were doing made sense to me. I used pretty much the same indicators I did with stocks, and like with options, I was more of a technical/visual trader. Joined several online communities to help me learn.

That became my biggest mistake. It became apparent that there are many, many people telling you "THE" way to trade forex, with the vast majority only regurgitating what they've heard, with all the key words and tricky phrases, and in reality no more successful than I was starting out. They weren't necessarily successful, they just wanted to appear to be knowledgeable and wise and all knowing; that they held the key to successful trading.

I traded very successfully until the US was repatriated back to 50:1, when I quit and went back to trading options. And I was very successful doing all those things people said NEVER do....I used 400:1 leverage, I traded full lots with small balance, I used indicators, I only used stop loss for emergencies (100 pips), and I never paid any attention to R:R ratios or drawdowns (if the trade went against me, I got out of it).


My recommendations to help your trading are:
- only take advice from people trading a live account and trading full sized lots. You want to learn from someone that is already successful, not trying to become successful like you are doing.
- take recommendations as just that. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, don't do it. What works for some may not work for others: some use indicators, some don't....there is no "right" or "wrong" way to trade if it works for you.
- don't get caught up in the negativity on the forums. There are numerous ways to trade successfully, so don't listen to those that tell you otherwise. Find something you have confidence in and don't let others sway your opinion with a mathematic chart or something.


My recommendations when you become successful are:
- help others that want to learn. Retail forex is not one of those things that if someone else is making money, you make less. And showing people what you do helps you because of the exchange of ideas and questions.
- don't bother with the naysayers. Doesn't matter how much you make, there will be others will say you didn't. Many non-successful traders feels if they can't do it, it can't be done. That's not just forex, ego is alive and well in all traders.

No one can prevent you from being successful except you. Do not give up.

Except scammers. There are, unfortunately, a lot of scammers and dishonest companies in this industry, and even the best trader can become their victim.

You can get good advice from forums about where to look for good educational information about trading.

I found a mentor who wasn’t a scammer.

I am glad for you then. This is the best scenario, in my opinion.

in this world just one thing i got easily which is advice and its always free. at any section there is no one who can help you by money or other something but everyone is ready to provide advice, in Forum community same experience i have already. so many experience traders there is but they are not willing to ensure exceptional knowledge until admitting their paid services. its a reality.

Not all advice out there is free, and that applies to Forex too. It depends on the individual what kind of advice they look for, but my recommendation is to start with the free one.

I don't know whether I can part with all indicators. I barely use any, but the ones I do use I find helpful.

Agree, market is having too many scammers but if we have knowledge and skills then we can identify it.

Accept that you will lose trades. Easier to say than to do....

I think my professional poker background helped me plenty. playing upto 16 tables at a time, it made me numb to results and focus on making consistent decision. In my experience thats whats lacking with most of the traders, inconsistency in their decisions for a large sample size. Most traders are just a loss away from tweaking their strat, and journey to blowing their account begins.

The biggest breakthrough so far for me was removing unnecessary distractions and all the hype around Forex. Focused on my trading plan and strategy and the progress quickly started to happen.
