By right, the 3rd candle should only engulf the 2nd candle only, but you can zoom in to 5 min chart to find valid setups in that same area.

FX Cyborg created a monster of a thread here in a good way of course. People come in here and try to cut corners by trying to learn everything in a few posts, and not reading all the posts from page 1. He must have repeated himself 100 times when he told us to only post clean full screen shots, which means no lines or indicators. So I cant blame him for getting pissed off, he has been very patient with the whole group really.

I know that he was really ticked off on Friday and he warned everyone one more time, so if he doesn't show up tomorrow he more than likely wont be back, and that will be the end of the thread. There is still a lot we can learn from him, so we can only hope that he comes back.

I think the beat solution would've been delete any post that doesn't meet the standard, if repeated a couple times by an individual he/she be removed

Hi,

A step by step of one of the trades I took last night on the DOW (US30) off the 15 minute chart.

1. Check trend on higher time frame (30 minute chart)

2. Look for accumulation, note I also look for obvious important support resistance, supply and demand.

3. Look for set up, in this case two bearish candles with an engulfing bull and wait for price to move away and come back. Price moved away so orders placed.

4. Taking profit - With this trade I know that once the Dow gets it's direction it will run. I'm long so I look to higher time frames for important supply areas that will bring the run to an end. In this instance I set my profit target at large supply area circled.

Notes:

 

  1. I trade the indices so I know that they can run hundreds of pips in a matter of hours.
  2. Check the trend on higher time frames
  3. Check for accumulation and other areas of importance such as support and resistance, supply and demand
  4. Time of day is important as is being aware of important news, this trade was after the London open
  5. Look for set up after the accumulation and wait for price to move away with certainty
  6. Engage your pending orders on the entry line stop order at east 2 pips away from breech line. The pair you trade will determine this!
  7. Set take profit to at least 1:2 (Risk:Reward) Again the time frame you're trading from and volatility of the instrument you're trading will determine this
  8. Orders for this trade were 25 pips stop with a profit target to suit.
  9. Forget this trade and go find another
  10. I look to put on at least five to ten trades a night

Thanks for the feedback mate - the number 1 trouble for me is finding pairs, its trigger itchy fingers when something remotely comes up. What would be really useful, is something which can alert us to potential setups.

Has FXC approved any indicators yet?

Thanks pipsquick16 for posting your setup chart, very clear and informative, and good example how it should be done. Those members that post charts with no comments on and think everybody know what they are thinking , you are wasting your time posting.
