You obviously hate The Beatles, but the fact remains that the accepted measure of a bands success is in total record sales, not total number of liver performances. The Beatles tops the list....period!
Of course Paul McCartney went on to form Wings, which also was very successful, and John Lennon had a successful solo career that would have continued had he not been shot and killed. George Harrison was also successful as a solo artist, although perhaps less so than Lennon & McCartney as they were the major song writers. Ringo (to be honest) was a human metronome and really hasn't go much to else to offer.
There was immense talent amoung the Fab 4. The same cannot be said for The Monkees.
