Not a problem, I encourage people to look at strategies in different ways. It just gets cluttered if people continuously post alternatives in the same thread.

your leverage is not really that low at $10 for every $1 in equity.
that means that a 1,000 pip move against your average price will lose you your account, not counting anything for margin.
for me 2007/2008 is the stress-test for this system and its not looking good.
the main high interest currencies at the time were NZD, AUD and GBP.
they all went down 2-5 thousand pips against other currencies.
cant see that profits on other trades and earned swap would get you out of the pit.
you can stop taking new trades, but when will you do that? you might already have 80 trades in out of a 100 max at 0.01 per trade.
and you probably still get a margin call.
sorry, but I don't want to put in the required time to backtest your system; I simply don't have the time.
I might be wrong, but I don't think the system is safe in every situation.

When I said "no more than 1 lot total for every 10K", it is intended as a maximum guideline, not set in stone. Long-term trading where you get runs of 400-500 pips on average, your account needs to be adequately funded to negate those runs and protect your equity. If I have 80 trades open at .01 lots, I guarantee you I have more than 10K in the account to compensate for the drawdown. Now can everyone do that, no. But they also do not have to trade 15-20 pairs and take every trade either. This is something you build up to, and it will be slower than a regular intraday strategy. And remember, if you have 10 trades on a pair open, not every trade is going to be 400-500 pips in the hole, and the later trades in the run will close first on the correction, adding to the account equity.

Yeas, a strategy post, not a swap rate post. Again, you're not understanding the Traders Way is just being used to demo the strategy (in which the swap is not the primary part by the way). If you don't want to use Traders Way, use whatever the hell you want. And my personal broker that I use live is no one's business except my own. And remember, some people are limited in the number of brokers they can or want use, especially if they're in the U.S., good luck.

Some quick questions.

What made you decide on the number 300 as the setting for the indicator?

Do you get concerned about correlation? How do you keep your portfolio balanced?

I think your system, which should be quite straight forward, is becoming a bit wobbly with a lot of discretion left to the trader in regards to the account equity, number of trades and number of pairs to trade.
I feel one area for improvement could be how you take the trades. From you example in post 3 chart of AUD/CAD you have 13 trades within a 400 pip
downturn. You take a trade every time price drops below a former low candle, even if price closes for the day above the price of the last trade.
I think it would be better to enter the next trade only if the daily close is at least x ATR (fill in 1, 1 1/2, 2 etc) from the last entry.
The advantage of ATR is also if volatility is going up in case of a melt down.

In short however: whatever you do, this is an averaging down system and like all of these systems your position sizes have to be small to handle the large drawdowns, which will always be there.
These systems are HIGH RISK - LOW RETURN.

That's just the default setting of the indicator. I tried it from everything from 100 to 1000 and the default looked the best on visual backtesting. Well, I trade other stuff besides Forex. I have a TD Ameritrade account with personal IRAs and business 401Ks that I have. I am actually looking at their new forex trading as well. You can't just invest in Forex and think you're going to retire, it's just not feasible. You have to have other option if you want to protect your retirement. And to be honest, Forex trading is actually a hobby, not a full-time thing anymore. And trading daily makes it much easier.

You bet, and that's a great way to do it if you'd like. Like I've said numerous times, this is just a base strategy that can be modified by anyone who uses it. Low return, agreed, but that was clearly stated in the first post. But it's not necessarily high risk if your account is funded properly. Even if you only make 20-30% a year, that's better than most mutual funds you run into nowadays.

Well, fund your account properly to absorb the drawdown. And as I said earlier, not everyone can afford to do that. So either limit the number of pairs you trade or the number of trades you place.

Thanks your answer makes a lot of sense to me, I love the information here I trade eurusd only for few reasons: my size of account
