for me the speeches Tuesday AUD for my AN: JPY looking towards a buy AJ
there is also CPI and tertiary activity for JPY
CAD has stuff happening most of the week ending with the CPI (sadly sometimes when I'm not awake)
I still don't want to touch GBP and USD but will look at euro if things work my way

I will get my head around this, but always can be wrong

I'm becoming a +ve swap trader and had missed it (tbh honest hadn't really checked any euros this morning)

Basically it sets the tone for the trading strategy for the week and it adds another dimension to the entire strategy on top of the pivot zones and price action. Guides me to focus on currencies that has the potential to have a good set-up or currencies to avoid.

I would add never say "I will buy or sell" prior of market open Instead say might,may,possible trades this way you are consciously and unconsciously not fixated to take action before market open. The factor of probabilities should always be in the background like Gravity.
I noticed this with new traders doing this exercise almost always forget the probability factor.
