Oanda is updating the platform the 23rd. I was with forexbroker until they went under, was fortunate enough to get my withdrawal before they closed. Thats been my only experience with offshore spot brokers

ForexBroker did not go under, they merged with FX Choice, which is still operating. I do not use them as their pricing isn't as competitive as the brokers I use.

I was under the impression that the upgrade would not occur until November 23

As much as people think it's too "risky", I've been with three offshore brokers, one for over four years Not only do I have better pricing, I never have any frozen platform or random price spike issues. You would think with all of this over-regulation, the opposite would be true.

Same experience here. The so called regulation is not protecting you. Due diligence and an account offshore are all you need.

Pipfu and pipmaster77, can you share who is your off shore broker? 1:50 leverage is gruesome here.

So someone needs to fill me in on Oanda's upgrade. How risky is it? Does anyone know the best way I could find US traders; particular MT4? I would like to find a group that are successful; have their patterns and plans, not looking for the rich quick, pie in the sky deal, etc. I'd like to find friends with their feet on the ground, maybe even full time traders. Most all of you are overseas. US has their unique issues and it would be great to have a buddy system to bounce things off of. I lost my husband two weeks ago and I'm feeling a bit lost.

Sorry for your loss. I'm in the US, west coast. Not a full time trader, but trade pretty much full time. Not familiar with any actual groups, but am open to the idea. PM if you find something or have ideas for one.
Dumped OANDA some time ago, mostly due to issues outside their control. Never had a problem with their platform at all.

Years ago (maybe 12 years or more), some of us OANDA traders in our city got together for donuts and coffee each month. But that didn't last for long. At our first meeting, there were about 10 of us. Each meeting after that, there were 2 fewer showing up each time.

Also in the US... eastern time zone. I'm up for having a small group of like minded folks if our trading styles are similar. Maybe a Telegram group to share ideas? I have a couple groups like that for equities and crypto. It's nice, but you need the right folks.

I think a US group is a good idea and it sounds like there is some interest. Don't know whether to start a forum just for this but bear with me as I try to start a new life. Forex is my future and when you're alone, its a scary proposition. He was a trader also, we did it together; bounced ideas off each other, etc. Keep the ideas coming and I'll try and put something together. In the meantime, folks don't take your loved ones for granted. My guy was fine, laughing, no illness. Within three hours strange chest pain (in drs ofc) and gone very quickly. Love of my life.
Sorry to go on. Its a part of it all, or so they say.

New to the app, looks like we can set up a group chat. I'm usually active asian session, hit or miss NY, sound asleep for London. I trade E/U, U/C, U/J, and E/J.

Rebbecca,
sorry to hear for your loss, finding a partner that shared your passion for trading seems rare . As far as group trading is concerned typically i have found it difficult in the past due to the different styles/strategies we all have, but definitely willing to keep an open perspective. Typically with my schedule i trade Asian session.

I'm not suggesting that we all trade together as a group. I'm not suggesting we discuss trade ideas any more than some of these forums (which can be very helpful). To be honest, I think 'we' Americans better start banning together to protect our rights. Look at how our freedoms to trade are being stripped from us? I have spoke to many legislators regarding the restrictions in the USA and EVERYONE knows nothing about forex trading and knows nothing about how Dodd Frank impacted us. Many of us make a living by this or at least hope to someday. Will it be there if we don't start standing up and demanding OUR rights?

I think US traders need more collaboration. That's what I'd like to see.

With the new makeup of the House, Dodd-Frank 2.0 does worry me.

what concerns me is you would think when the server went down previously an email notification at least would be sent to traders with open positions explaining the situation and times affected. I had to get in contact with them, and the response was a casual wel look into it . Thats the last ive heard. What issues are experiencing currently?
