first trade with sierra!...gasp

actually i can run sierra AND tradingview at the same time. what i like about sierra is that pnl is right off the chart (no more isolating windows during stream), so i will use this window for stream going forward.

so far i'm getting used to the endless settings!

damn. screen saving with its own link ....i like how it shows individual filled executions with price, which cqg and tradingview lack. this help so much to quickly analyze trades without squinting where price was on screenshots

I am slowing loving Sierra too. A bit clunky at first with just too many features creating distraction to try new things. I can run both but I cannot connect to the same data service via CQG mobile and Sierra at the same time. Amp only allows one active session at a time. How do I get Trading View?

You can also include "Fill Text" to go in your trade log per the different strategy you trade... plus, with the activity log features, you really don't need a separate tool to analyze your trades. I still need to figure out how to draw account equity curve (both realized and floating) on the chart in real time to include the entire history. There must be some indicator for this.

yea a decent standalone platform with too many damn settings lol. need few months to get used to all of what it can offer.

you can get it from tradingview site. It's about $15/month, but you get discount if you sign up for 1-2 years. you only get the basic from amp (limited indies and no alarms!), but if you do it through the site, you get access to more custom indies and alarms/email notifications. i actually signed up for it just so i can have freaking vwap indy and the alarms on the phone. Gotta have the mobile trading support for us workin folks

i don't really have a max tick/$ loss ..i just based it off setup sequences. if i lose 3 net setups i'm done for the session, 5 net setups, i'm done for the day.

anybody used edgewonk to upload sierra trading history?

i decided to cancel my tradervue subscription since sierra does 80% of what that journal does (without the $50/month fee!)

but i was intrigued with edgewonk features that include tilt meter and simulation based on your KPIs. For one time fee, i guess it's not too bad.

But i'm having a hard time to upload sierra history to it. Support and I just been going back and forth about it. Kind of pissed off that the attitude is "it works for other sierra users, it'll work for you too". I even made video to show i followed every step. waiting on their response to the video.

IF this doesn't work out, they better be refund my fucking money.

it's been the cycle where i would make money in asia, lose it in euro, then make it back in the US session. this has happened so many times that mentally i'm just tired of it. Tired of the euro/US swings that i had to go through, and losing sleep over it.

so anyway, it's just going to be asia/US session for me. asia mostly range play, US is trend/breakout mostly.

In trading, it is necessary to look beyond the chaos of market noise in order to reach your trading objectives

Wanted to post and share my strategy so that anyone seeing my videos can refer to it and see how i trade based on it

My strategy is based on Momentum. I actually call it POC Pulse strategy

The indicators i use

1. volume profile with value areas 38% (.5sd), 68% (1sd), 87%(1.5sd) and 95% (2sd)
2. vwap with bands (1.5sd and 2sd)
3. pivots
4. current day high/low (today's range)
5. previous day high/low (yesterday range)

I have 3 basic setups

1. momentum
Before starting a session, i observe the behavior of the POC. Did it make an impulse in the last 1-2 hours? or is it relatively flat?
impulse = increase or decrease of about 10% of the current day range.
if it did make an impulse, i trade in direction of the pulse at the POC, or vah/val levels or nearby pivot/high/low, bands.

2. fade
if POC was flat, i fade towards POC at the same levels

3. breakout
did hourly bar close beyond current day high/low?
if it did, i do breakout, UNLESS, it's way over extended (beyond R2/S2). in extended market, my targets are more conservative

stops:
i have two stops
1. worst case stop about 30% of the current range
2. hourly based stop (80% of my stops hit this condition)- where price close beyond my entry levels

targets
1. for momentum, i try for the current day high/low. i usually aim for 30% of the current range as a take home before i finish session
2. for fade-it's POC or vwap

trading size
1. for momentum breakout=it's 2-4 contracts
2. for fade 1-2

I like POC as an analysis tool primarily (vs vwap) becaues it reacts quicker. It represents most traded price-i.e point of CONTROL. as a momentum trader,i follow the cahnges of that CONTROL point. vwap is useful for overall structure analysis. if price makes it to 1.5-2sd band, you know it's prime to take at fade move. It's also a good gauge (especially towards end of session/day) when price should retest the vwap, so it would be advisable to close momentum/breakout trades at that moment.

THis is what my trading screen looks like. it's a bit busy, but i can see clearly what's going on. But for stream/video purposes, i hide most of it so that I can show the execution levels/lines, orders. I've tried various platforms since i started streaming/recording, tradingview, cqg, and now sierra (only at home since work network won't let me connect for some reason).

So there it is in a nutshell. I'd say it's about 90% mechanical. the other 10% usually involve targets/position size. sometimes i like to push my good setups with higher targets. Or i would be fading bit more with 1-2 more contracts based on if the vwap has been tested or not. Vwap is a magnet-so price usually test it (around +/-.5sd)
