@Jason Rogers can you help please ? You can use Ninja Trader with FXCM -problem is;I can only get forex charts, cannot get Indices charts -could be me though? I am in the UK AND Would Ninja 8 run on an Apple IMac please ?

Hi turnip,

Here are the instructions for accessing the index charts in both NinjaTrader 7 and NinjaTrader 8

To add indices to NT7 go to tools > instrument manager and in the available master instruments put in the name of the index such as GER30. Search and after finding the index click in the left arrow to add the instrument in the list. For the chart, you can go to file > new > chart > double click in GER30

To add indices to NT8 go to tools > instrument list and in the part of instruments you click in add and search (for example) for GER30. For the chart, you can go to new > chart and select the list that you want.

NinjaTrader is a Windows application, but you can find more information on potentially running the platform on a Mac here https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...83&postcount=2

If you need any help adding the instrument and creating a chart, our support team can also walk you through it in real-time via LiveChat or the Ninja support team is a great resource as well.

Hi radical,

Take a look at the latest slippage stats from our website below which displays the percentage of orders experiencing negative slippage based on order size.

Name: slippage stats 10-3-2018 10-39-03 AM.jpg
Size: 141 KB

The order size is calculated per the notional value of the order and displayed in millions USD. 53% of orders sized 2.0-2.9 (which would be 2 million to 2.9 million notional size) experienced negative slippage. As order size increases, the likelihood of negative slippage increases since you are more likely to exhaust liquidity at the quoted price, and your order may be competing for liquidity at the quoted price along with other client orders.

The stats include both FX and CFD orders. The data is not broken down by currency pair or CFD product, but I'll pass this suggestion along to the product team.

As with any historical data, always keep in mind that past performance is not indicative of future results. The figures in this article are provided for information purposes only, and are not intended for trading purposes or advice. Additional slippage stats can be found on our website https://www.fxcm.com/uk/about-fxcm/slippage-statistics/

Jason

*The above data comes from various order types that executed through FXCM Group from 1 January, 2018 to 31 August, 2018. Data excludes certain types of non-direct clients. 79.79% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Hi guys,

I have recently quit my job at Trading for a bank and am currently trying out a few retail brokers to trade my private account.
On FXCM I have experiences severe problems with slippage (Fills ~ 10 pips away from where the market was) for tiny amounts.
Has anyone had a similar issue/knows how to fix this issue other than giving limit instead of market orders of course.

I added a screenshot of some EURCHF test trades that got filled at really strange rates.

Thx for your input

Jason,

Can you advise the indicator name from the standard indicator drop down lists that shows Tick volume or Tick data in both the TS2 platform and Your MT4.

Thanks

Hi rob,

In the TS2 platform, the tick volume indicator can be found by right clicking anywhere over the chart and selecting Show Tick Volume from the middle of the menu. Here's a screenshot where I circled the location in green

To view tick data, you will first need to create a tick chart. To do this, in the Marketscope chart select File > Create Chart and in the window that appears select t1 in the Period drop down menu and press OK. Once the tick chart is open, right click anywhere over the chart and select Chart Mode > Table. This will display a table with the bid/ask tick data.

Note that the volume indicators in the indicator list for TS2 such as Real Volume and Directional Real Volume are for actual trading volumes being traded at FXCM.

On MT4, you can view tick volume by right clicking anywhere over the chart and selecting Volumes in the menu. Tick volume bars will then be displayed at the bottom of the chart. Tick volume is also available in the indicator list under the Volumes category which can then be added to the chart.

Not sure what this is showing but I assume it is your sell orders taken out when stop hit at the 10pm U.K. open of today?

Presumably if so it was the spread widening between bid and ask. On my platform there shows a gap to the downside for the open.

There is a way to show both prices on the platforms so at least you can see when it is approaching your SL I just can't remember how to get it.

You might have got the same reslut with FXCM unfortunately, their platform will do the same sometimes.

Hi Jason,

When will FXCM provide MT5 account? A great benefit of MT5 is the efficiency of back testing.

Do you have a plan or it just won't happen in near future?

Thanks for you time.

Are there any active traders here that use NinjaTrader and FXCM? I would like you to let me know your weekend maintenance experience. I have issues reconnecting after maintenance has finished.

That's strange timing that you should ask this. I don't use ninja trader but do have FXCM's Marketscope 2.0 and MT4.
5 of my charts were missing this week after opening up my Trade station charts on Sunday night.
Not just the charts are gone but the templates and layouts they were saved in is missing the charts also.
The amount of data I had on the charts will take a few days to re evaluate.

This used to happen often with my FXCM platform but this has been the first time they have erased my charts this year.

Hi Koshi,

We have mentioned in the past that we plan to release the MT5 platform, but I don't have a timeframe for when it may be released.

Hi Rob,

The chart layout will be saved on your hard drive if you look for the folder directory Candleworks > FXTS2 > Layouts. If you're concerned about losing this file due to uninstalling the platform or it being removed from your computer for any other reason, I would recommend saving a duplicate file somewhere you know it won't be deleted so you can always import the layout if needed.

Correct, it is there, unfortunately I opened the TS2 sunday night, albeit before market open. The platform opened and the charts were missing from my opening layout. I closed the platform and can only assume the platform backed up the layout showing before it shut down. When I re-opened 30 minutes later when the market was open (after 10pm U.K. Sunday) the same layout with the charts missing came up. I tried to re-open from my c: drive directly in the candleworks folder and the charts were not there.

As I stated this happened many times in the past but not this year which is why I was a little complacent with backing up my template files and Layout files as I used to do.
I will start backing up again throughout the day, it is just a little upsetting to have to do this when I have never had to on the MT4 platform.
