Quick random/trivia question:

What do you guys (especially the full-time daytraders) like to do on a day-to-day basis while waiting for trade setups to line up on your screens?

For me I play stupid/mindless games to pass time - downloaded this game called 'Stack' on my phone lol literally a game where you tap on the screen to stack blocks on top of each other

Am also a Tetris addict.

Not really a Youtube/Netflix kind of guy because I got too distracted a few times and missed some good entries.

In my opinion the day trading EuroDollar market is 99.9% of the time either UP or Down. So, I aim to always be in the market: I enter and ideally take profit at the next day trading trend reversal - and enter the other way. Repeat, repeat, repeat, all day long. I agree, some days there could be just one Entry and then an Exit at the end - at the NY close. Please note: this is in my opinion.

Some days I find that I have no time for breakfast. I could have a break for breakfast at 2 Pm, my time, because I have to concentrate so much on what is happening in the market on 20 MT5 time frames from M1 to Monthly.

i look at daily and take my entry based on 1 hour these trades are usually good for 100 or so pips.

i can’t be dealing staring at charts lol

Many do ,,, Usually from 10 am on New york time its just the garbage left behind from the trading part of the day ,, A lot of weight is put on the London open but it is only the london session open just a part of the day ,, but in the end it always comes down to a support or Resistance level being broke ,,Yellow horizontal is the actual opens of an FX day ,, 1st chart 10:30 PM NY marked out and 10:AM option expiry NY time marked out,,,, 2nd just the london open marked ,,100 pips a day by taking one trade many days not possible in the Eur those days mostly gone ,,it spent 2 1/2 days in a 56 pip range as it often does ,find the levels of support and res and one really dont have to be glued to the screen every second and if you want to trade the good moves,,, well show up for business about whatever time 10:30 EST equates too and hang out for about 12 hours ,,what the days range will be is available then if a trending move starts you should be well positioned,, then trail your stp

The days open ,, weeks open ,,quarters open ,,,opens in general of the whole mkt not just a session ,,, something that can give a lot of clues ,,and knowing where a mkt has already been ,, Last quarters low was broke ,,no denying that ,, it ripped up from Q S1 and failed where ? quarterly open ,,next point coming up is last quarters low again ,, will it hold or fold ,,untested gap level just below ,,, if/when that gets filled ,gaps dont always fill ,,it can be a long , long time as evidenced by barely the dust left from skeletons left down at 1.07 to 1.08 area ,,say it does fill the gap ,,,clear and green down , down down right ,,,, maybe or maybe a gap fill,,,, or not and a yearly open at 1.20 it may want to test yet ,,,, it s got a quarter and 1/3 to do the dance up there if its going to ,,,,levels levels levesl ,,one level at a time one week at a time one day at time. digger thats a good point. the ny open has pretty much higher volume at open than london especially on futures . i can see how LO by virtue of being ahead of n.y might have an advantage tho im not entirely convinced. anyone test ny open to ny open? what most people dont realize is forex especially in u.s. now is leveraged pretty much just like futures.

I have always went by the mkt open ,,yes keep track of London there is a lot of volume comes in then but the mkt open has always been a better gauge ,, or the support or resistance the mkt was working on at the time sometimes its that blast of volume that will push it right to where the best entry level is ,,but one always has to beware of the session open times

Here is a chart with the LO and US opens marked ,, many times the us adds to what ever is already happening or short range days around big levels they may reverse it ,, all comes down to the level holding or folding,,it isint like LO trading firms dont have US affiliates or vice versa its a digital world ,, the theme just gets handed off to next session to the affiliates and the day carries on till objective met ,, usually to another support or res level to test

digger it isnt the blast of volume that matters...believe it or not price goes up on lower volume. its that old adage that price climbs a wall of worry meaning low volume. HV always gets retested

Oh I believe you . Volume is a funny thing ,,especially fx volume ,,some have it figured out I never could ,, watched a volume guru trade himself into a 3500 dollar hole in the space of about 6 hours while I watched a price pattern go to tgt without ever looking at volume ,,, Myself I cant make sense out of it ,,, and have found I dont need too lol,,, ,,hats off to those that can ,,but yea seen price move a long ways without much volume ,,up and down and low and behold when ya get the big stopping volume spike your gonna be a round a big level ,,have seen that enough to know like everything else ,,its the level,, nothing else
