going forward, instead of doing these local recording (which takes too much space/time on my part), i'll do the occasional live streams. finally figured out how to do it with xsplit encoder. This would only happen usually every other friday (when i'm off work the next day and i don't need to sacrifice my beauty sleep)

this +1.5 hour video is actually a good capture into my thought process on how i read order flow.Of course it's not comprehensive, but just one ingredient into what i look for. I try to capture my thoughts on screen texts.

ps. sorry about the music, i know people don't have same taste as i do lol

Need your inputs on what valuable stats a trader must track in trading results.

Since there's no TE for amp futures, I need to track this on my own. I've thought about using the paid journals (edgewonk, tradervue). However CQG only allow downloads for the day's fills.

Signed up for fundseeder tracking. Since amp futures is not on the list for live tracking, I have to do manual daily net liquidating value. Most of the stats are just shitty only applicable to "fund managers". The only good thing about it is that i can compare my performance with benchmark with other futures traders or the index performances.

I'm only concerned about $ net, $ risk, and $ cost.

So far I have:

1) gross $ pnl
2) comm/fees
3) net $ pnl

4) % of comm/$ gross pnl (this measures my efficiency in converting a profit for the day)
my grading (based on my average ATR targets)
<3%=A
3-5%=B
5-7%=C
>7%=Needs improvement

5) average $gain
6) average $loss
7) avg $ gain/loss ratio
8) highest $ gain/lowest $ loss
<1 = needs improvement
1-1.5 = C
1.5-2 = B
>2 = A

thanks to veefx who mentioned these stats in one of his posts. This actually allows me to track how trading income compares to my job income

8) avg trading hours
9) $/hour
10) $/8 hours (typical US workday)

so if you have any other stats that are useful please let me know so i can start tallying this on monthly basis

For me it's to make 500 a day 1hr a day 4 days a weeks stats are easy to figure when you draw out profits each month. No colossal dollars but nice income which you can increase lot size for bigger daily goal.

do you withdraw all profits each month? do you grow your stake or your size?

my plan is 50% of net pnl for withdrawal. Let the account grow. since the size can't increase exponentially like forex did, this would be slower pace.

i'm not really sure what my maximum stake should be, but definitely needs to be min 100k.

You know when you put a simple bracket order in for entry, stop and target it's equated out to be 3 orders so for 1 contract you need 1500 I keep 6000 in acct so I have breathing room to go up to 3 contracts. At end of each month I draw out all profits as income leaving 6000 always in acct. I am not looking to get rich just live very comfortable I rather keep money in my bank than there's I have no debt so basically I am rich

I would recommend keeping track of your RR for all trades: Targeted RR, Current RR, and most importantly Effective RR.

Remember that within the expectancy formula, which ultimately determines every traders success, there are 4 variables, and only one of them is fully controlled by the trader. If you track and analyze your Risk, you will be able to make better decisions in the future.

my targets and stops are almost never static. it's easier to track rr using target/mae (maximum adverse excursion), but i know it doesn't give the whole picture

but just so i understand this:

so targeted rr is orginal stop/target?
what is current rr??
effective rr is actual target/mae? once tradde is closed?

this is where myfxbook is so useful

Targeted RR is your original stop and target. I use hard stops but do not have fixed targets, but i do have "minimum" target which dictates whether i should even consider closing a trade. Anything less than the minimum target i'd rather take a BE than the small profit.

Current RR is a re-evaluation of RR based on a potential trading decision: scaling out, moving target, adding contracts. Not all trade plans need to track this, however, there is a benefit in beginning to think in terms of: "how does this potential trade management decision effect my overall RR?"

Effective RR is calculated after a position is fully flat.

Tracking MAE is also useful, i think of it as a measure of efficiency, but you are right in saying it is not the same as Targeted RR. If you are not using a fixed technical stop, surely you must have a mental % equity stop. If so, this is your real Stop which all trades should be measured against to calculate RR.

I also have not found a proper stat tracking service for cqg, cts, or rithmic. Lets keep each other posted if we discover one.
