Broker is the medium that can help a foreign currency exchange trader to reach the market. But due to the selection of wrong broker this trading journey can be actually difficult for any retail, small scale trader. If we survey the forex market place we can overview this reality that not all traders can ensure comfortable and profitable trading life here. So, try to choose broker as per your trading requirements of course.

Friedberg Direct
Friedberg Direct is part of the Friedberg Group, one of Canada’s oldest brokerages in stocks, commodities, and Forex. The group was founded in 1971, at the dawn of the modern retail brokerage industry. Due to regulatory issues, Forex / CFD broker FXCM has withdrawn from the Canadian market, redirecting its potential Canadian resident clients to Friedberg Direct, who offer a very similar service to what FXCM were providing in trading in Forex currency pairs, major stock indices, and major commodities, powered by the same technology and on near-identical terms.
Friedberg Direct a Forex / CFD broker headquartered and regulated in Canada by the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada. They state that they operate a no dealing desk model, without any dealing desk interference. A relatively wide range of assets for trading are offered, in all the major and minor Forex currency pairs, 11 major stock indices, a few major commodities (gold, silver, copper, natural gas, and crude oil), and even Treasury Bunds.
One of the most attractive features of an account with Friedberg Direct is that it is insured by the CIPF (Canadian Investor Protection Fund) for up to CAD 1 million.

Accounts
There is no significant choice of account types with Friedberg Direct, just a variety of legal structures (individual, partnership, corporate etc.). An account requires a minimum deposit of $5,000 or the equivalent of CAD 5,000, whichever is cheaper. An average spread of 0.2 pips is offered on the benchmark EUR/USD currency pair, plus a commission of CAD 10 per lot traded round trip. This equals an effective spread plus commission of 1 pip, which is very competitive.
Maximum leverage offered is just a fraction under 20 to 1, equal to a minimum margin requirement of 5.2%. The minimum trade size for Forex is 1 microlot (0.01 full lots).
There is a choice between several trading platforms: MetaTrader 4, Ninja Trader, or FXCM’s proprietary Trade Station. These are the most popular, widely used and respected trading platforms in use within the retail Forex / CFD brokerage industry. Trade Station may be used as software or as a web-based platform through a web browser, and as an application on smartphones and tablets.
A demo account is available, as is typical with nearly all spot Forex and CFD brokers.

Several of my friends are with FXTM, cent account, obviously you can get something like 2000:1 leverage lol.
But it doesn't look too promising from FPA reviews. But no complains from my friends side. Anyone interested can try them out.

Turnkey

I would highly recommend trading with Forex.com. They are an excellent broker and regulated with IIROC!

fxpig seems to be nice. They give you access to cTrader, which is fantastic. Average spread on EU is 0.5 + another 0.6 in commissions. So, not as low as IC Markets or Pepperstone, but still pretty decent. They seem to be getting stellar reviews all over internet. Given that my IC Markets account got closed (same for all Canadians), fxpig is where I might park for now.

FXpig is good so far for scalping, but rollover fees are brutal and im scared to keep more then few thousand in the account. Anyone use FXCM in Canada? I know the leverage is crazy bad but I just downloaded the mt4 demo and spreads are awesome, better then IC I even see some -1 on Eur etc. Never see that before. Its brutal if I need to keep 20k in the account just to open 4 lots...but with that spread it might be worth it and not to mention safety of funds vs the over seas unregulated brokers. If someone can share their experience that would be great.

One things that doesn't add up...chart spread says one thing and market watch spread says another...

Redbaron, yeah, that is quite weird. Also, FXCM Canada's commissions are quite high. If you are making a comparison to IC Markets, then the spreads are about the same, but commissions however, another story. IC Markets round trip would cost you an additoinal 0.7 of a pip, where as FXCM Canada will charge 1.4. Twice as expensive. I used to be with FXCM before Canadians were prohibited to use US brokers, and despite all the reviews, I like them, but now, FXCM Canada is simply not worth it. If you have 5k to make an initial deposit, then add another 5k and deposit with Interactive Brokers instead.

RedBaron, I had an account with FXCM in GREECE years ago and I too had the spread/price discrepancy. Luckily my orders were activated on the market watch prices instead of the chart price scale.
Also observed several negative spreads especially on EURUSD.
It was annoying though to have the wrong prices so I removed the bid and ask from the charts and replaced them with an indicator which used the market watch prices. That’s the best solution available. From my recollection, when I inquired, FXCM said that the market watch (tighter spreads) are generated directly from their direct banking network which can’t be applied onto MT4. Go figure...

They could easily have just used an indicator to solve the issue like I did.

Two accounts set up...ThinkMarkets and VantageFX. Not sure what I will do yet.

I have setup a pro account which seems to be OK. Why do you say they have high spreads if you have not traded live with them?

i have also used Forrest Park FX so I can get some rebates and that helps eith the cost to trade.

well because for the last week i had Axitrade, VantageFX, thinkmarkets, FXOpen, Dukascopy and Blackbullmarkets all accounts on ECN demo
Vs ICMarkets live account, VantageFX demo was the only equivalent to ICMarkets, FXOpen was higher by 2-3 points but compensate by a good system of commission

Im a bit frustrated tbh you shouldn't listen to me lol

Not trying to be picky, but it's hard to compare a bunch of demo accounts and see the differences, they are demos and are different than live accounts.

I will test during Asian tonight....Live IC Markets vs Live VantageFX vs Live ThinkMarkets and report back.

No need to be frustrated....pick one and go trade. A one or two pip difference will not define whether you are successful unless you are scalping....and if that's the case, then good luck.

Judge for yourself.

I do like the wider variety of instruments to trade on ThinkMarkets, but VantageFX has slightly better spreads and rebates and a signup bonus.

Have another day or two to decide.
