The main issue is interpreting the news successfully to trade whether a currency is bearish or bullish. Currently testing out Ransquawk, but if @Samson85 could give tips and inputs would be helpful.

If you message the Analyst chat on the Ransquawk team and say Samson said please give me some tips I am sure they will help.

For me the most powerful tool on there is the 'daily opening news' which is on the thread around 6am. It basically tells you what the sentiment is. For example if you had read it you would have been shorting JPY pairs instantly and shorting equities or even buying bonds due to the risk off sentiment.

IMHO - Understanding the big picture is needed for Fundamental / Sentiment analysis / interpreting news. I tried to summarize my understanding in a new thread that i had started. Please feel free to take a look. I believe i am only at the tip of the iceberg... lot more to learn...long way to go...

The analyst said they can't give directional advice of a pair, nor an outlook. If there was a way to interpret it or learn how to interpret it would be great as I am very new with fundamentals. Have been used to economic calender and technicals as always.

Just executed another set up as it rejected the daily pivot and I will now swing this to 1.12 . Risk to this trade is if matters get solved with Italy and Spain as well as other risk off sentiment.

given its month end , is there a chance the bankers may close out some of their very profitable longs in the USD crosses to book some profits and we see EU and GU get bid?

even if we can see what bankers do, it's not just the bankers that move the price, geopolitical play big roles here - us vs asia & europe tradewar, brexit, euro crisis, north korea tension, canada pipeline. etc. Read previous posts! how many time big-boys gives trade recommendation and still kiss the stop loss.
Short answer : is there a chance ? yes and no
"Hope" is dangerous word in trading, trade what you see not what you hope!

I was thinking that also, but with the rate hike next month they will likely do it on the day the interest rate is released on all USD pairs so unlikely we will get month end flows. I havent seen any flows announced by banks.

Hello Samson - thanks for the input. Is this pretext available in all versions of Ransquawk or only the premium? As an example in today's CAD event - what did the pretext say that would have convinced you that CAD would go up (or USD/CAD go down for instance), even though they maintained the rate at 1.25%?

This week has been very very noisy in terms of news flow but if you were aware of the Italy situation on Monday/Tuesday you could have made some serious pips on those days.

The market seems to now have stabilised, but what we really need is for the key central banks to provide overall market direction. The BOC provided this on Wednesday, but then the tariffs from the US completely killed the trend!! I am not complaining as I profited well via trading it intra-day.

Not apparent trends at all... There is no clear direction to be found in these few days.

Samson, I have read some of Your posts & it is nice to see that someone Agrees with Me that Fundamentals are the only way to truly be Successful at Forex or any other market i.e: stocks, crypto etc... I use Ransquawk, Reuters Eikon & Many other news services. I cannot fathom trading without Ransquawk & the edge that We get from that service. Reuters Eikon Metatrader is a paid service & I use it daily. Since I went to Fundamental trading I have had some very positive trades & finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I have found a combination of FA, TA & Psychology are the key to being successful in this Market. The Video You posted of Jeff the Pro trader is one of the reasons that I gravitated to FA along with My numerous TA losses. Yes, I started out as a TA Trader & lost a significant amount of trades. I am in a trading group & My fellow traders think I am crazy with the FA trading. Someday I will show them My latest results & they will be shocked. To anyone that is considering FA trading the course you want to take is Jarratt Davis's course. He is a hedge fund manager that made a course for fundamentals to teach his own company's traders & to teach retail traders. His course was by far the Best Money I have ever spent on my education including College. Imagine as a trader to understand the Forex market so well that You know why You Lost or Won a trade. I literally feel like I could trade at a hedge fund in the near future. Samson, I wish You the best in trading & look forward to reading more FA Comments.

Today wasn't a good day on the managed accounts as I lost all the weeks gains on NFP due to fear of missing out. Went long on the loonie and then long on cable (stop loss should have been better with less risk.)

I did take a tiny position on the personal account on cable as I bought it at a double 0 level with the stop set to today's low. My bias was that cable has fallen over a 1000 points and it's time to take profit and the cheap price was attractive.

My bias for next week will be to swing trade cable.

Loolool reading this you sound so similar to me in terms of your trading, almost replica like.

I was part of Jarratt davis but my membership expired last month but I feel I have gained all the knowledge i can from them although I will miss their Monday morning seminars.

Ransquawk truly makes trading very simple as it basically tells me where the sentiment is and how the big banks are thinking.

Geoff in the video I posted was how I discovered Ransquawk and i then saw jarrat on YouTube. Fortunately for me I was not trading TA for more than 2 months so I don't have many horror stories.

How have you found this weeks event in terms of the Italian political sentiment?
