It is true that men are more aggressive in nature will more likely do stupid things. It is probably why women get lower insurance rates for auto insurance due to the probabilities that men are far more likely to be involved in an accident than girls while being in what is called the risk pool for young drivers. Driving is the most over learned habit and thus I advocate defensive driver course should be manatory on a annal basis.

Saturday Morning Cinema

Continuing the sci-fi genre, our film this week is a recent one "Ex-Machina" 2015
based on a scientists breakthrough on creating a artificial intelligence to replicate a human being.
This film raises some ethical questions as well as explores the implications in what machines who act, talk, and even
think like humans are capable of doing. What will the future will look like if such machines start entering the human
population without us ever knowing how to tell a real human from a machine apart. Something to ponder, and is and will this be possible?

Thanks. Mom's health started deteriorating and my sister, brother, a dear old friend and I had to stay with her till she passed in January. She lived a full life and was ready to go. Natural progression of things! Thats my eldest grandson, now 11. Think he's more of a risk taker than I was at his age. Trying to teach him risk is fine long as you safe. I rode for years without a helmet -- dumb!

Started our boys at 8. I talked to the instructors and felt comfortable with their program. Have to be comfortable with how far they push. I didn't start my own children on weight training till bout 11 - 12.

Thanks . My mom grew up a farm girl in southern Mississippi. Went through the depression, was in the Army Air Corps during WW2, and was fiercely independent all her life. She influenced many in her 95 years.

I don't ride nearly as much as I used to. Texting has completely changed the dynamics. More deaths from texting than drunks now. First thing the troopers check at a accident site now.

Agree wholeheartedly Exodus, interference is not wise, I meant I didn't encourage them to ride bikes on the road as transport. I took both my children on the back of different styles of bikes when they were very young and bought them a mini bike to ride at 7 and 9 years old. They just saw this as a toy, which it was. Daughter loved the speed on my bike, son didn't care for it. When they got to riding/driving age on the road I simply didn't steer them (no pun intended) to ride a bike any further and they didn't crave one. They both got into cars and they are happy with their liberty on four wheels.
I have stables full of bikes and neither of them have said "let me take one out"

I watched this film a month back. The basic plot is disappointing, however the advance of technology will be amazing. We await a suitable power source and mechanical actuators.

Yes I agree the plot was a bit lacking, but what I liked about this film was the organic acting, and the situational set up of the scenes, such as a rich billionaire genius who lives out in the middle of nowhere only accessible by copter, or the employee who won a contest and is now able to join this guy to learn and take part in a experiment.

On your latter point, yes it is quite possible on the law of unexpected consequences striking and being severe. As far as time travel, that is something I very much believe in.

Forwards only perhaps, but I believe it is possible to go back in time but in a different dimension. For example: If I go back in time such as the time of the civil war where the battle of Gettysburg is raging on, I would tell General Lee not to go into "Pickets Charge"! Sounds like she was a wonderful with solid values! May she rest in peace!

I never understood the need to text while driving, I suspect it has more to do with rising dopamine levels being exploited by mobile tech where such addictions that compel particularly in the youth to not think rationally. What is even more scarier is being the other responsible driver who has to share the road with these risk factors that poses such life threatening situations.

Using your phone whilst driving is illegal here. Honestly I don't know why we need an extra law as it is already covered under "driving without due care and attention."

If I needed to text whilst driving, I just tell my car to do it. Why the need to physically type in your phone? Same if I needed to make a call.

Back to the point that men do more stupid things; from observation, most of the men I've known are pretty competent but then there seems some insane trigger where they have to take a dumb risk like getting into arguments and having to win them at all costs. Like suspecting a speed camera may be out of action so blast past it. Like playing chicken with a 36 tonne juggernaut. Why?

There is an ECJ ruling that forbids taking a person's gender into consideration for the pricing of car insurance. There you go, discrimination against women.
