Currency volume is changing every years, check the gold's weekly chart from 2003 to 2013, you can win with EA but you must know how to trade manually and you have to evolve in certain time period with the market's style of movement.

@ bluepanther: Yes, and happens to be the one that introduced me to FX 3 years ago.

I'm well aware of Kangaroo/TulipFX. Don't know all the EAs you've mentioned but some are grids. Be careful with those. They blow sooner or later. You might wanna google 'birt's ea review' (this is THE place to learn everything ea trading related) that is in case you don't know it yet. What my friend learned in there was enough to become profitable using EAs.

Yes, there is at least one successful EA out there. It brought me into Forex back in early 2009. It's commercial, but not expensive. There is much more to tell in this story. If anybody is interested - talk to me.

I make good profit constantly on demo and some times in real account too. But Expert Advisors are not reliable for consistent profit in live trading . I purchase paying robot , they give guarantee of 2 to 3 months for profits.

How times change, 4 years later and there's loads of algorithms out there operating successfully, you just don't hear about them and they're most certainly not for sale.

Since this thread is decades old and someone bumped into this again and the question which Op has asked inspired me to write a reply... to this thread

Anyone consistently profitable using Expert Advisors?

I think the word consistent should be used with a lot of care here specially while talking about any kind of subject which deals with investments.Investing and consistentcy are both contrasting words.

The only thing which most people would find consistent is every thing is inconsistent in this markets. That ofcourse doesnt mean that you cannot make profits.
There are many multiple ways to make money if you can find that Order in chaos.

you will start making profit in this lovely game right after finding an answer for this question

if its profitable why bankers with 30+ years experience still working regularly for 25k+/- a year ? why professors of finances etc.. still teaching in universities for 25k+/- a year ? why big analyzers still working on tv instead of retiring or making their own channels ?

start finding answers, after that you gonna be rich with reality
regards

Short answer - no, it's not working like that.
You rely on technical analysis, which means you put indicators in play.
And, wait for it, you can never 100% rely on indicators.

I've seen it all many times. You have your RSI, stochastic, CCI, ADX or whatever, it says you should go long/short, but it goes massively against you and you lose a lot of money (or burn the account).

You always have to anticipate the worst and make it part of your trading strategy.

For years i have been trading manually and for some reason, i have created my own robot to trade the way i trade and runs it 12/5.
If you have your own edge and be systematic with your trades, you can either,
A. Teach it to someone and pay him to to trade for you using the method you want
B. Create a robot and let it do it for you.
And i went with B after so long trading manually the same method.

All i can say, if you have been trading the same method for years doing the same thing over and over and you know the edge of your trading method, you could easily make your own robot out of it. But first you have to be consistent both in profit making and taking trades before venturing into automatic trading.

AS FOR me i already know it all.and i am already profitable without using any commercial EA OR using any conventional trading systems.

thanks for your input.

Because they suck and can't do it for themselves with their own money. Either because they can't handle it psychologically, are contractually locked down, or don't really know how.

Let's be honest, if you've been 'trading' at a bank for 30 years and haven't retired or moved on to a hedge fund/started your own yet... You're the crap at the bottom of the barrel.

Probably there are good trading systems, but I do not rely on them too much, because I am used to the fact that I can control everything on my own and it gives me some more confidence in the market. Although some of my acquaintances use something like this by combining robots and trading programs with their own trading, it is usually practiced by those who have a lot of work but want their money to work and bring a lot of income. They say that it is also quite profitable. But I am still confused by the fact that I cannot control the situation personally and cannot influence it if something goes wrong. Maybe my fears are in vain, because even I sometimes have not very profitable days.
