I am hosting a polling about your consistently profitable trading method.

If you have been consistently profitable for at least one year, or if you are an intraday trader and have been consistently profitable for many months, please reveal the style your successful trading method by doing this polling for the benefit of all.

Definitions:-

Interactive: Using technical methods (S/R, TL, PA, Fibo, MA, Indi, etc.) discretionarily

Systematic: Using technical methods relatively mechanically with little discretion

Basic Trend Following: Following trends with little technical or fundamental complexities

Signal Services: Following paid service provider's signals, acquaintance's advices or Expert Advisors (EAs) supplied by others

News Reaction: Taking advantages of market reactions immediately after news releases

Remarks (1 Feb 2010):

Up to the end of January 2010, the thread has attracted non-stop misunderstandings and criticisms, I want to stress that this thread is polling-question-focused, and it is not asking for a specific trading strategy. This thread basically asks you to do the polling, but if you don't mind sharing some details of your trading style, you are welcome to do so. I don't see any harm in doing that. If sharing the details of a consistently profitable trading style will make people lazy, as some posts here may suggest, many threads on this forum should be closed.

Also, this thread is not for discussing everything related to trading success, such as Money management. On this forum, there are other threads for discussing trading topics like this, and there is no reason to focus this type of topic here. Also, you have the right to think that I am wasting my time in hosting a polling like this, that is ok. I also have the right to think it worth my time to hosting this polling. I do enjoy hosting this polling.

Just believe that people would share information on this forum, if it doesn't take much of their time.

Hi,

Long period rectangle breakouts are best! i have been using it since last 7 years from stock markets to commodities and currency now

Other is Pin bars with the trend, provided the higher time frames support our views. I have done this from last 5 years

Jankone setup also works awesome!

Keep it simple! that works!

In my view any consistent trading method ( not system.....) should work very well on all markets accross all time frames. Then it is called universal and it gets supported on market facts rather than our artificial curve fits. Say you open a 5sec chart, i have seen long period rectangle breakouts to give explosive moves.......

So i can play multiple role when i have Common method based on fact and shift in time frame

Thanks for your reply. Jankone's with-the-trend pinbar trading looks like an interactive style for me. Long period rectangle breakouts means price is making a long-period high or long-period low, if I understand correctly. Turtle traders also use this. If so, it can be categoried as a simple trend following style?

why don't you do the hard work to develop a profitable approach. People who are not prepared to put in the hours and hard work to accomplish a goal don't deserve it.

no offense, but this is a stupid thread and should be binned!

i think this is unfair! again no offence !

If successful traders can just share the basic map wont be any harm!
IMO, he is not asking any specific strategy! inspite of knowing the successful style, one has to do lot and lot of hardwork for successful trading shaping both - the Sword and Heart!

This thread would be very useful for newbies as a guide! rest everybody have to undergo in the furnace for achieving shinning gold!

I am doing my hard work on developing my own approach. What wrong to know how others be profitable??? If you don't want to tell your profitable trading style (no details required) that is ok, you cannot stop other people to share here!

this is called being lazy IMO. there are freakin hundreds of threads in here that have great information. the thread poster is to bloody lazy to even look.

I have no issue with helping people that are trying their guts out. If I did I would not reply to any pms or make friends and email them off site.

This is a lazy person looking for the easy way.

You want a method that makes you profitable? IT'S CALLED TRIAL AND ERROR AND HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF SCREEN TIME! and that's if you have the guts to stick it out after blowing accounts in the process. Short term trading is one of the hardest gigs out there.

cheers

You're making a mistake.

It's not a special trading style to be profitable.

You can have a 99% winning entry system but unable to make any money on the long run.

Moneymanagement is much more important.

If you can't pick a winner then why trade, so you can watch you account disappear in a thousand little losses?

sounds like fun................

I've had success for the past six months with the following:

Draw trend lines

Place a grid of 1:1 leverage limit orders above and below the trend lines

Take profit when candles get smaller / ATR drops / trend dies down

I stick with daily and hourly timeframes

+80% live since Dec 8, 2009
+85% demo since Jan 8, 2010 (different pairs)
+25% demo since Jan 8, 2010 (another set of pairs, like the live acct)

You can also trade high interest pairs with very low leverage. I earned 50% in five months on EURHUF and USDTRY. Leverage was 5:1 on E/H, 2:1 U/T.

Now I no longer have to watch the market, trying to time the perfect entry and praying that my 30 pip SL won't get hit. It's easier and consistent.
