How Institutions Position Themselves In Euro/Usd This Week

Until Tuesday, institutions were seen cutting their net long positions in Euro , which was shown in the latest COT as of Tuesday, Mar 20, 2018.

The institutions net long Euro positions decreased last week by 13,641 contracts to 132,739 contracts. four week low. 89% relative to the max long record

20,019 long positions were closed, and 6,378 short positions were closed as well. Now Longs total 219,434 contracts vs shorts total 86,695 contracts .

72% long exposure vs 28% short exposure, the same as the previous week

This week Euro started at 1.2389 on 3/14, moved up to 1.2412 high, sold down to 1.2239 low on 3/20, closed at 1.2241
Longs and shorts being closed, it indicates institutions' hesitation to take out of either side of daily supply zone 1.2405-1.2440 or demand zone 1.2280-1.2150. Price has stayed in this range for last two weeks.

Euro was closed at 1.2353 last Friday, currently above 20 day (1.2315) and 50 day (1.2330),
It maybe on its way to challenge the daily supply zone 1.2405-1.2440, with the coming month end and quarter end closings this week

Long Term Bullish , Short Term points to higher..

Please note institutions take weeks and months to build a position in the currency market. For Euro, they have built their net long positions since 5/9/2017.
Therefore, the bullish sentiment is more for long term outlook, not intended for short term trading.

How Institutions Position Themselves In Dollar This Week

For Dollar, the latest COT as of Tuesday, Mar 20, 2018, institutions decreased bullish bets by 911 contracts to net short 64

1,542 longs were closed and 631 shorts were closed as well, Now Longs total 20,950 contracts vs shorts total 21,014 contracts .

50% long exposure vs 50% short exposure , Longs dropped 1% and shorts added 1% from the previous week

Dollar continues below near term resistance at 90.50 with support at 88-89 area. Price has been in this range for last 9 weeks

Long term Bearish, Short term price consolidates in the range

Please note institutions take weeks and months to build a position in the currency market. For dollar, they have been decreasing their net long positions for over a year
Therefore, the bearish sentiment is more for long term outlook, not intended for short term trading.

Eur/Usd On 3/26/2018 at 8am est.. Boulder Multi Time Frame System:

1H, Uptrend, Trend stop at 1H close 1.2341, Running Period: 29x1H
4H, Uptrend, Trend stop at 4H close 1.2263, Running Period: 15 x 4H
Daily, Downtrend, Trend stop at day close 1.2419, Running Period: 18 days

( Note: Those stops will change with hour close and price action)

Trading Strategy:

Currently 1H and 4H uptrend, daily downtrend. If you trade 1H trend, preference is to long as long as uptrend stop 1.2341 held at 1H close.
Euro is currently on its way to test dally trend stop 1.2419

Support: S1 1.2230, S2 1.2309, S3 1.2274
Resistance: R1: 1.2371, R2 1.2392 , R3 1.2427

if Euro can break out this daily supply zone.1.2405-1.2448 per my cot report. it will on its way challenge 1.25 this week...
