You have to use the right strategy at the right time. And give each strategy the appropriate amount of time. I think that's key.

I'll just add, you must be comfortable with what you MAY lose. ie don't gamble your life away, but only invest a fraction of your disposable income on FX - regardless of how much that is.

People lose because it's a zero sum game (and one part goes to broker) and people who play against the small trader have all the money, computing power and brain power money can buy. Simply said, you have to have a serious quantified edge if you want to win long term.

I believe the pits were the most fertile grounds to grow as a trader as you could actually see the titans trade and you would observe what works.

here in forums are just loners infact 9/10 of the 10 vouchers crew are failed traders.

Most people become unrealistic when come into trading. In any other business with 10$k, people's profit expectation is realistic. But when it comes to forex their expectation soars 10 times or more. That too with being skilled. Most traders even don't know what they are doing.

Out of all disadvantages forex retail trading has, probably spread is the most innocent one. And if one thinks they will loose over the long run because of spread then better stay away from trading.

I guess over trading and trade size being too large compared to the account to chase profits are big ones. Blaming the market, crying stop hunt and being rigid in thinking are important to.

I think it's psych. The irony is the reason one trades well is not the reason one is initially attracted to trading.
