GBP/AUD @1.6997 Just on the resistance line of 1.7000 here so expect this to pop with momentum on the AUD downside and could create stops in GBP

at the same time a buy with AU

this pair has broken support/previous Peak low. look out for a consolidation reversal on the DAILY when this run has been completed, it will be a good place to buy and hold for 2-3 days.

The funny thing is that the U.S. dollar index has ben falling during the last 8 hours, but AUD reaction is oppside. Looks like people are just dumping the Australian dollar. It’s penetrating every support on its way down.

wow both GA and AU pushing a touch further than expected, looking for entry now in GA and pending (not expected) active @0.705 overnight

AUD @ .7700

The 200 DMA @ .7690 held but its a stalemate .

I just read a note whereby the market is pricing in an Australian rate hike of 25bps by May next year. WTF?

What are they seeing that I am not ?

Infact I will go out on a limb and go the opposite and say there is a rate fall.

The BS employment the govt keeps printing is purely political. There is a massive underemployment stat which isnt mentioned.
Meaning that yes people are employed but how many hours per week?

Yep, a lot of people are forecasting rate hikes in OZ for 1st Q 2018 and I agree. ANZ/NAB are forecasting 2 hikes next year. I agree the data doesn't really support OZ hikes. But I think central banks followed the fed lower for years and now they are following them higher....

The Fed had a sh*thouse QTR earlier in the year and they just said it was seasonal and hiked anyway plus inflation still isn't where they want it and yet still hiking with probability of hiking in 4th QTR. And BOC: Everyone including me said they will never hike (few months ago) cause of high mortgage debt, prop bubble, strengthening CAD and low inflation. But they hiked twice in 3 months. And BOE looks certain to hike next month even though London property falling, GBP strengthening and GDP only 1.6% y/y.

To me, being data dependent is BS and gives central banks breathing room so they aren't tied into a certain view and can change anytime they want. The fed is hiking either because they want some ammo for next recession or cause leading indicators are saying tax cuts could spur inflation. Either way, other central banks are following them higher to be competitive in international money flows and to keep track of short term bond yields where in OZ they have been rising last 12 months.

OZ bond yields almost always stay above USA bond yields and so we have to follow them:

Aussie has a mind of her own for sure. Haha, you can never find a correlation with any other currency. That includes NZD. At times NZD can be rising rapidly but AUD stays stagnant. AUD is dependent on various factors other than USD as well, such as Commodities, China data, iron ore, copper, risk appetite, yields ... and the list goes on.
