I was to ask the same. That was a heck of an aggressive short trade. I see no entry reason yet.

It is difficult to set S&R levels when in unknown territory, so I use levels from DANSKE Bank, they use a form of Fib Extensions, I did a post on it once and gave a link to a site but I can not find my post or the link ATM.
here is a PDF from Danske with their levels for that day.

Hi, i have had some time on my hands, so i decided to look at DAX today. I noticed an area of the past two days that seemed a bit puzzling to me. So many conflicting signals, i have been deciding what i would have taken and what not. I would have probably taken the Div today at brn/yestedays DOL. Other than that, i would have sat on my hands. How would you have handled this market situation? Thank you. Josh

Don't forget, there are other ways of looking at the Market that can give you a different perspective, also MP is used by a lot more traders now than ever before, and the more traders looking at something the more likely that some thing will happen at that point, Herd Instinct, Sheep spring to mind.
Singles below and a large Gap, but, it was a very strong move up that created those, it just remains to be seen how attractive the market finds the Singles! Looking up we are once again viewing an episode of Star Trek, I only once heard Spock refer to Fibonacci Extensions as a means to plotting a course to a Galaxy but as I remember the Enterprise did reach it's destination.

Sorry Joshua, I did not mean to ignore you. Quite frankly I have not been trading the DAX I have been concentrating on my stock portfolio.
However, I agree with your assessment entirely. When the 2 ma's run flat and close together you are looking at consolidation or a small Range, the only way to trade a Range is to identify Top and Bottom (S&R) and try to identify an entry at either of those, your Divergences at the BRN being a logical one.
The day looked like we might have a Range Day but then deteriorated into a Consolidation triangle. Consolidation is a little more difficult to trade and I tend to wait until it has compressed enough to indicate that it is going to Breakout and then look for an entry opportunity, but this requires patience.

Thank you Dee. Sometimes I look at the chart and revisit it many times during the day only to find very few potential opportunities. I am trying to work more towards successfully trading in such areas of consolidation and/or range. Quite a bit of mental switch, and patience and experience is very much an essential element. I have much work to do, but I would like to able to trade successfully almost whatever the market throws at me. I need to put in many more hours.
I hope your portfolio is growing bigger and fatter by the day. :-)

Here is a quick example of what I was talking about, Triangle consolidation. The Day Open has been acting as Support and has rejected price multiple times, oh this is a 3 pip Renko chart, look right at the M30 chart and you can see how tight the PA has been, I have taken an entry on the break of the DO, Stochs and MACD show room for movement down, but not much so I have moved to BE @ +5 as I am typing I have been stopped out so this could be the big boys trying to trap some shorts or this could be a Breakout Pullback Continuation, we will see.
