EJ is not a cross of UJ, if anything XAUUSD is a cross of UJ due to Yen Carry trade

any pair that does not have USD in it is a cross currency.
EJ is influenced by Euro/USD and USD/JPY in most cases.
So if Yen wins on USD you can almost be sure it will win 2xmore on Euro so dropping UJ is exhilarated on EJ in most cases unless Euro gets stronger then Yen.

Yeah i know what you're saying, more often then not it trails in tandem with each other vs Gold.

Depends on how you're looking at it. If you're saying if one goes down, the other goes up, then I would say EURUSD and USDCHF is a better comparison.

The price of eur/usd multiplied by the price of usd/jpy is exactly equal to the price of eur/jpy.
