In a sense you are giving the centralisation against decentralisation argument. 1 means greater gains on it peaks and higher losses on its downfall while 2 means lower gains on it peaks and average with lower losses on its down turn.

My OPINION is this: Each of us has it's psychology based on our beliefs and fears. With that personality we care to pick the best system that works for us. Once we have that system I don't think one would want to use different systems on different pairs. But he might tweak the system parameters for each pair he trades. I would stick to one system for specific pairs.
A second thing is that some systems might work on forex pairs and metals for example but might not work on futures or options. So the type of instrument might be affecting the success rate of the system more or less compared to the success rate of pairs of the same instrument.
My conclusion is: Sticking to the one system that works and allowing it to get better and better with little tweaks was and still is the best solution for me.
