What was accidental? That both planes were tuned to the key of "C" or tuned to the key of "C" in general? Also yes you are correct that the original P51's had an Allison Engine, and when fitted with a Merlin one, they performed 10X's better than their original Engine. The real beast was the FU4 Corse Air, one in which is a shame that didn't get developed sooner to take on the skies in Europe.

I'm putting it down to them having the same engine, latterly at least.

Co-incidentally, a B17 flew over on Saturday. That is the first time I have seen one airborne 'in the flesh'. Engines make a very smooth thrum......

This plane and every time I see it sends shivers down my spine. One of Boeings finest creations. I had two Uncles who served with the 303rd Bombardment group, "Hells Angels" in Molesworth. I hope to someday to catch a ride on one of these! A lot of men were lost in the 8th airforce.

The Blitz was so effective that it is a part of lexicon in the USA. It was definitely ahead of it's time. We were lucky that the German people realized after some time they had elected a nutbird. The is something about the Goths that is unique to their breed. They gave the Romans hell, they gave Europe hell twice. I have a bit of a dark admiration for their evil genius. Maybe it's the admiration of excellence regardless of the origin, I do not know. I am very glad that they themselves decided Hitler had to go. One reason I am saddened that the German people now feel like global nerds and have to play dumb and destroy their nation.

I know what you mean but there is a sort of unwritten code that when you see the "lane ahead closed" sign say 600 yards ahead or whatever the idea is everyone moves over, if everyone made that last dash to the last cone it would be mayhem, point is, at what point is it downright cheeky and likely to piss everyone off ? It's like barging to the front of an ATM queue, accept for a hand on the collar which is me saying "Oi!! join the queue" very politely.

I prefer the written code i.e. the Highway Code. As I am already in the outside lane...

Section 134
You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed. In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed.

My mum was a war baby, she was evacuated with my grandma when the bombing started - went to live in Gloucestershire (the Cotswolds) and my grandma worked in the fields for the war effort - my grandad on that side worked at Biggin Hill as a mechanic on Hurricanes. His two brothers were in the army and fought in Europe, only 1 came back.
We should never forget and we need to honour their sacrifice.
