And MT4, is like project IGI 1 pc game or like Windows xp .. Still it's graphics game play and stability is a fun.and you can't really think about replace if you are using slow computer .. And MT5 is like Project IGI 2.. Good for nothing.

Honestly ctrader is the second best platform I used after Metatrader. As things here are saved in cloud. So no need to arrange everything set your workplace once and forget.. No need to remember password of multiple account. Convert any MT4 indicator and work. Closing multiple trades with one click.. Even if you want to close only buy side trades or sell sides possible.. Take profits can auto set with flexible lot size closing.. Endless list.. So it's the future for me

I hope they will be the best--- but for now I am more concerned that they have lost the momentum; for one thing, they don't even update the setting for Visual Studio 2017.
IG seems like a reputable company, but it is not.

Honestly all companies when they need grow are very receptive. When they have enough traction in the market they try monopolize the environment. Finally users are who spend the time and money and they never take they need because for companies users are a vehicle for take the goals, not the base of their business. Nobody knows how this company will be at future but I didn't see any company don't work in this way. Starting with MT of course...

Each game has the limitation of Windows OS, the speed and CPU play the important part. I prefer checkmyspeed first every time I attempt to update a game, to ensure if my CPU or internet can support it enough. Sometimes the hardware can inflect the speed of a PC and you need to go to the manufacturer`s website to get a correct driver updater.

Hello guys,

I tried to start a new thread to post this problem but junior members are only allowed to make new posts.

Has anyone else noticed that MT4 Strategy Tester gives different results for the same data for the same time period?

I was testing LFL-ATRprojections.ex4 indicator that I downloaded from ForexFactory. Please compare the two attached screenshots. The same settings, the same date and time but the indicator displays different values for high 2(for example).

Date and time: 2017.09.19 1:00
Value of high 2 in first test: 1.20051
Value of high 2 in second test: 1.20046

Before started testing, I disconnected from the internet to make sure the Strategy Tester uses the same data that has already been downloaded for each test run.

What might be the reason for this problem? Any comment appreciated.

cTrader may not use "dealer plugins" but upon closer examination this order looks dodgy.

This trade went to Take Profit.

On the exit, between 1st order match and 4th when it was accepted, almost 23 seconds.. After checking the bid and offer on the first order match - had it been accepted result would have been more positive slippage for me.

This trade went to Stop Loss.

cTrader introduced stop limit orders but why can't we limit the amount slippage we're willing to accept on sl and tp orders.(limit slippage on sl to say 6 pips). A dollar twenty two slippage on gold is not the exit I want.

Seems like brokers can reject orders if slippage is to large in the traders favor, but the trader has no control whether they want to accept or reject an order.

because there is somethings called "reality"

if you on the phone with a tow truck company charge you by the distance to pick you up .. while you rolling with 200/mph towards a cliff ...
and you impose a "limit" on the distance .
once you breach the limit, time will not stop .. the world will keep spinning and you will go down the cliff

that would be exactly what happens if a Stop order would not be executed if the slip is larger than the one you would accept .. and in case of a stop loss (which is also a stop order in the opposite direction) this would be exactly the case, the order slips through your limit and would be deleted .. leaving you running down the cliff right into smart-stop-out ..

unless you mean the Tooth-ferry will make sure you not get slipped and transfer the cost of the slip to the broker instead

The big big advantage CT has over MT ist that one gets access over FIX API for free.
That way one can use and make any third party software to the fullest, with no restrictions (devel. env., computer lang. etc) whatsoever.
The only, and only, adv. that MT ever had for non-programmers/noobs is the software basis; otherwise it is a total annoyance. The only true award that it (esp. MT4) ever won, is that of "the industry's worst" - made for scammers (brokers) by scammers. Any broker that only has MT4 platform puts its clients at a disadvantage (likely intentionally) from the beginning. Red flag.

This in not about performance, it's all about support by user communities. That being said, MT4 is just unbeatable, even by its new brother MT5.... MT4 is not bad as a charting platform.

I just found out something that makes cTrader immensely more enjoyable to use.

You can press the spacebar to change between layouts.

Wished I'd known that a long time ago...

you can also use the arrow up-down keys to switch between your favorite TImeframes (you have to mark some as favorites first)

but there is a flaw in the system, you can't do it too fast or the broker will block you for a few seconds from the data stream

same you can also just right click .. select a new symbol,.. hold the mouse button and keep "zapping" them ..
but also there the flood protection may stop you from doing that.
but its pretty neat if you have linked windows so you see like 3 timeframes you just Zapp trough symbols till you see something of interest.

Both platforms you mentioned are good. If you are good at trading and know what are you doing it is completely unimportant which one yo will use. I personally use MT4 only because it is the first one I started to use and on which I was learning how to trade.
