You know what's happening, the crooked governments get the money and use it to their own ends. There should only be aid to those countries where money can be accounted for.

I donate a little, would like to give more, to the Salvation army. One of the few organisations I trust. In any event, capitalism is better than any aid any of us can give.

Lots of carbs, wonderful! Great Mediterranean diet where carbs rule! The Japanese and around the Med have the highest longevity and they don't cut out carbs. Cutting out carbs will likely give you bad skin, bad breath and a shrivelled body like Madonna's.

A glass of Chianti would go well. (I used to own an Italian restaurant, I know my stuff ).

IQ tests are solely based on your ability to figure out logic (I wonder how libs do, considering they are alien to anything logical). I do very well on logic puzzles and Maths type questions so IQ tests would be my forte but I have plenty of weaknesses in other areas. Could I stand up in an auditorium and talk to 200 people? Make stuff out of crap? Learn a new language in 3 weeks? Nope! So perhaps IQ tests are flawed or perhaps I have an unfair advantage for them, but I don't consider myself any brighter. That probably explains why I am in no rush to do one.

Vegetables are carbs too Jen and much healthier! I just choose to reduce the type of carbs that are more detrimental as we age such as white rice, pastas, and bread. On occasion is ok but as a rule as a staple vegetables is the way to go. I have always eaten well, but I used to eat a lot pastas, breads and brown rice prior.

Lots of potatoes then . The problem with the carbs from veg is that they have a very low GI index and takes a lot of breaking down to release that energy. That's good if you are sedentary, but if you do a lot of sport or are active, you really do need the quicker release stuff too and much more of it. Relatively speaking, you don't get that much from veg. Your liver stores the converted carbs as glycogen ready for use. It all depends on what your lifestyle is. Being sedentary is bad news so assuming you are active, then you really do need a combination of both. Don't forget whole grains - a bowl of porridge for breakfast is far better than a few sticks of celery!

Look at cows. To get enough energy from vegetation they have to eat non stop all day. If you run low on glycogen and you are inactive, your body is more likely to burn muscle than fat. Fat stores really are the last resort. Therefore it is so important to keep your muscle mass high so your body has no choice but to burn fat and in order to do that you have to be active. And being active means your muscles need a good supply of glycogen otherwise you will feel weak and unable to perform. During a moderately intense workout, the rate of glycogen / fat metabolised is about 50/50. Lower intensity workouts burn a higher proportion of fat, but actual fat burnt is lower. High intensity burns the most actual fat but a lower proportion compared to glycogen. That is why you need a lot of carbs if you want to improve muscle tone and burn more fat. Additionally muscles are very energy hungry and will raise your basal metabolic rate. If you want to get ripped fast, cutting down on carbs temporarily will work, but it is dangerous and should only be for a brief time.

I think(hope) we are there now.
Seeing lots abt stopping the NGO(Soros) boats in Italy. One was turned away the other day.
Now if the bloody French(Macron) could get their act together and deport Calais we'd be ok

Yes. It will not be the British. They don't have the stomach for what is required. Some politicians are beginning to ask for people to "call it what it really is", but not many. I get the feeling that the bet idea is to support the Italians: but them onto land, feed them and clothe them, and then ship them back to NA.

It's not dangerous to go very low carb, providing you switch fuel source to good fats. If you deplete glycogen and sedate or active, your body will adapt usually within 48hrs to fat burning, it will not consume muscle mass.Think the key is we are all different. Some cope better burning fat as primary fuel and others do better on clean carbs or a blend. One thing for sure everyone knows what doesn't agree with them because the body lets you know, just listen to it. There are plenty of fat adapted extreme athletes with great blood work and no signs of visceral fat or poor arterial function. Personally I do better low carb high fat and one thing which can't be disputed is you get more bang for your buck with fat. 1g of fat is double the same quantity in terms of energy. So glycogen store in liver and muscle are tiny compared to fat stored on a normal body weight person. Only about 2000 cals max in glycogen stores whereas even a normal slim build person will have at least 60,000 cals ( I think will check, anyway it's a lot !) of fat to burn before the body will catabolise muscle mass.
