Trading the "grid" I was doing that money management pattern for years, ....instinctively
...but I realized that only when I've analysed-back my journals lol

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Did you mean that it's a good idea to have a STOP LOSS based on pips?
Meaning if the total pips in the grid is -50, then close it with loss

if the total pips is +50 pips, then take profit?

Is that right?

That's what RR 1:1 means, you know!
It's absolutely the same thing like trading on classical approach the RR 1:1 ...except the fact the start is flexible

It is based on the time in the MT4. So that should be based on the server hour?

TudorIoan...I am not sure I can see how this can be done? As I see it, once you take trade 1, you can't move the entry point to #2. And, if you take 3 trades at the lines indicated, I think we may have the following:

We're in a 1:1 Risk to Reward trade, where we seek 50 PIPS (in this instance). In Example 1 (left), the trade is taken (#1), then price goes up, takes a second BUY, then a third BUY, and closes at +50PIPS.

Example 2 (middle), the trade is taken (#1), then price goes down and takes a second BUY (#2), then goes up and makes a third BUY, goes up further and gives +50PIPS total. {Probably worth saying that each horizontal line is approx 17 PIPS}. So, Trade #1 nets 34 PIPS. It loses 17, then goes back up 51PIPS to net 34. Trade #2 starts lower, and goes up netting +51 PIPS. Trade #3 goes up 17PIPS, netting 17PIPS. So, total net PIPS for the trades would be: 34+51+17=102 PIPS.

Example 3 (right), the trade is taken (#1), price drops to the first line where Trade #2 (BUY) is taken. Price drops further to the second line down where Trade #3 occurs, also a BUY. Then, price goes up to the first line above the initial entry point and closes there. My summation of the win is: Trade #1 is up 17PIPS (based on the assumption in 2 above. Trade 2 drops 17 PIPS before rallying and capturing 34PIPS net. Trade #3 (BUY), falls a slight bit, rises to the first line above the initial entry, and nets 51PIPS. Total PIPS for these 3 trades = 17+34+51=102 PIPS.

That's how I would understand the diagram. And, this is what I was thinking, as I drew up my chart.

...I am so sorry because I am not able to explain it better...
But there are 3 different situations there and in all of them is about RR 1:1, like+50 pips and -50pips as a pontential outcome
It's only the entry keeps shifting and the target zone is keep shifting
...so sorry, dont know to explain bettter

Working on progress. I'd rather focus coding than trading right now. Nothing interesting in the market.

1- say we start buy at 1.1370;
2- we set target 1.1400;
3- market goes with us +10 pips
4- we buy more at 1.1380
5- market goes with us another +10 pips
6- we buy more at 1.1400 edit: 1.1390
7- market goes with us another +10 pips
8- we sell all and gain +50 pips

B.
1- say we start buy at 1.1370
2- we set target 1.1400
3- but market goes against us -10 pips
4- we buy more at 1.1360
__4.1.- ...and we change target at 1.1390
5- market goes with us +20 pips
6- we buy more at 1.1380
7- market goes with us +10 pips
8- we sell all and gain +50 pips

C.

TudorIoan/Yousername, If each number in each example were a trade, the trader would multiply his/her PIPS and income from a straight BUY to the Take Profit point. That's the value I see in Grid Trading. If you pick the right direction, but the trade goes against you for a (manageable) while, you will earn more than if it just went directly to your target (Take Profit) point. And, you can use smaller lot sizes because you buy/sell in at multiple levels.

TudorIoan thanks for your time providing great examples.

It seems from your bullish example, the center of the grid is a buy trade. I don't see a hedge positioned. It's all in one direction.
Am I right?

Yep, no hedge, it's only the long approach. The short one is symmetrically opposite, as you expected.
And everything can be expanded on much more levels...
