The same argument could be made for any welfare program.

Conservative economist Milton Friedman proposed a negative income tax which guaranteed a basic level of income as a means of reducing bureaucracy, and he doesn't have a habit of saying things like that without good reason.

Innately I don't like it the proposal, but not sure I understand why.

When there is no incentive to work, people generally don't (present company excluded). And when the state provides for your income, the state controls you. UBI is Socialism by another name. People no longer need to innovate and be productive. UBI is an economic death wish

not really. You employ people to do work for you, but it is your job to manage them. I assume responsibility eventually falls to you. We each have our role to play, unless the country is run by socialist or communists, in which case we only pretend to perform a role. The reality of such a scenario and our true roles, would be that of mere observes, watching our economy go down the toilet
