The Ask/Offer is the price the market is willing to sell to the trader. So the trader buys at the Ask price. Like in a real-esate
auction - the auctioneer "offers" at a price, and willing buyers show their hands. That's my understanding of it.

Oh ok, one of simons comments made me think it was demo

I thought a "stop" order gets executed at the best possible price no matter what, even if the entry price gets jumped and never trades. Am I wrong?

The only rational explanation I can of think of is this:

====== Ask

====== Buy Stop

====== Bid

Depending on the spread, and how tight a trader is operating, it seems possible to submit a Buy Stop just above the Bid yet still below the Ask. In that scenario, if the Bid then moved up through the Buy Stop, and the Ask moved up as well, or even remained where it was, the order wouldn't be filled.
