hmm, me thinks this move is more likely attributable to aud bulls all having raised their stops to somewhere below 7050 while all the buying already took place above that so no buyers to catch the fall until the 7030s.
shorting on the pullbacks would have happened at 7080ish?

Sure, .708 was optimal, but I was looking around the .7065 area. AUD is still one of the weakest currencies out there while the dollar is one of the strongest. Still see short term selling here for at least one more push down today.

Hi everyone,

I am new to forex and I am having trouble identifying trends.

For example, what is the trend of AUD/USD?

Sometimes, there is major trend, mid term trend, short term trend, and ranging.

Can i say that AUD/USD is having a long term down trend but currently it is ranging?

I am confuse so please do help me out.

My stop order triggered at 7042, it was set for 7050.

Some brokers servers were frozen, then unfrozen then all stops triggered at once.
Market manipulation.. hackers. Cost me a couple benjamins.
Order was rejected, and then refilled much lower about 20 mins later. Very strange.

I have never once had that happen before.... (in 4 years) but it does have me concerned. Could have been more ugly than a 10 pip move.
I just opened 2nd account with another broker to hedge incase primary broker is unable to fill orders due to hackers/server issues (or whatever it was).

No I don't use FXCM but I heard they were hacked this morning.

Hanging around 7020 support which was previous resistance (short-term). I think retail data will decide (and I rather think it will be poor).

trend is a relative term and depends on what time frame you actually are looking at. if you are using/trading daily chart, AUDUSD is definitely in a downtrend but if you are trading 15 M, then trend is up. This also depends on the compression of the TF. compressed 15M chart also indicate the trend is down in general, but lower lows have been denied, which means trend might be changing.
