In trading, you have to be defensive and aggressive at the same time

Any one here remember the "come at me bro " member now that was a character, I'm sitting on the sidelines watching, wishing there was more humour like come at me bro, so many come and go, watching PA, fibos, S and P, some people fundies, you all make good noises then disappear within six months, I now address the market, YOU HAVE NOT BEAT ME, to any new aspiring traders I say don't let the market beat you, don't let your account be liquidated that is how you make money everything else is bull poo

Professional poker is a strategy game to a high degree though and some are just professional gamblers. That's the difference

Thanks!

I had a SL placed at 1.09950 which as you can see has been hit.

All good, not a bad profit of 30% in just over 1 month (by 2 days.)......with extra trades over this same period. These last two just boosted the % quite quickly.

I don't have this success every month. This is the first in a while.

Out of 18 trades I had only 2 negative closed trades which totaled -$5.20Aud.

I used to play all sorts of cash games… heads up/short handed/full ring NL holdem, limit holdem, limit omaha high/low, stud high/low, etc.

For now I'm sticking with mostly tournaments, and for the most part play only one day a week (sundays are the biggest tournaments online)

Just went to vegas for the main event couple weeks ago, didn't go well Was in Monte carlo for their big tournament few months ago… Have traveled a bit for some big tournaments but not as much as most guys in the biz and haven't had any luck when I have… couple close calls.

And yeah, clearly not some random dude gambling at poker over here haha… professional means professional.

A lot of traders are actually gamblers gambling, I know I have gambled my fair bit but I'm trying to treat it more professionally and manage my risk better going forward.

Poker and Trading are very alike. I'd say trading is way better though, because once you're a consistent winner, there's no "bigger game" or "higher stakes" to play with tougher competition.

Once you're a winner, you're a winner. Manage your risk properly and higher your stakes yourself slowly by upping your position size.

Plus there's no fees for waiting for your high % plays (or pocket aces, nutted hands) … in poker you have to pay the blinds/antes

Sound pretty interesting, must feel very unreal to sit down at a table in Vegas with all these half-real people there in an artificial parallel universe ^^. I have been interested in poker lately after playing chess for a long time, because there is zilch money in chess - except you are one of the few top grandmasters in the world who nerded their lives away since being 4 years old. Poker has easy rules, but is not an easy game though, even at the micros nowadys. Well, for you it obviously will be, but I figured out after starting to play that fancy strategies simply do not work on the micros because your opponent will not understand what you are doing plus their range can be basically anything from 27o to AA and they will go all-in preflop with either of these hands Anything but being nitty at multiple tables and being a fold-god does not seem appropiate to me ^^

Yep, gotta adjust to your opponents. Vs someone who's being overly and destructively aggressive/ paying off way too often, way better off being really solid/tight and letting him destroy himself. Nothing you don't know at this point i'm sure… and yeah when I first started playing professionally (I was 16, about 11 years ago) the games were really easy. It was honestly free money. Now it's very hard work….

Yup, the suckouts just suck if you flop a set, hit a full house on the turn and they go allin anyway and catch their Ace (two outs btw lol) to get the better full house with AA ... Then there are already Regs sitting deep stacked even at NL2 and all that stuff ... holy moly. I do not know where it will lead me, the goal ist not too high, if I can regularly win a few bucks by playing - nothing big - I am ok with that, would be still more than in chess where you only win something like 100 bucks if you win a real life tourney over three days or so. If not I should probably just trade, it is less stressful than playing KK against a fish maniac who holds 66 and bets three streets, hit or no hit ... Sometimes I think these are just rich bored kids who do not care if they only can suck out someone every 50 th hand LOL But not so funny if you just want to learn playing solid poker. I see it like trading, you have to win bigger pots than you pay, should be possible to get there somehow.
