The Mystical, Mathematical MIDAS
An Anchored VWAP Channel
For Congested Markets
by Andrew Coles, PhD

Physicist Paul Levine (R.I.P.) based his Midas (market interpretation/data analysis system) approach to technical analysis on a mathematical modification of the volume-weighted average price (vwap). Behind this modification is a well-thought-out philosophy of what drives market prices. This philosophy can be reduced to five basic tenets:

  1. The underlying order of price behavior is a fractal hierarchy of support and resistance levels.
  2. This interplay between support and resistance is coaction between accumulation and distribution.
  3. This coaction, when considered quantitatively from raw price and volume data, reveals a mathematical symmetry between support and resistance.
  4. This mathematical symmetry can be used to predict market tops and bottoms in advance.
  5. Price and volume data — the volume-weighted average price — subsequent to a reversal in trend, and thus to a major change in market (trader) sentiment, is key to this process of chart prediction.

The problem:
While there is no obvious flaw in the logic that binds these five principles, there is one weakness in the final tenet involving what follows the end of a trend and a significant change in market sentiment. In his lectures, Levine repeatedly identified the ends of trends with significant trend reversals. Yet this need not be the case; the end of a trend will more likely herald a resting phase in market activity.

Hi!
I see "TDZ_MTF GBPAUD,Daily: cannot set millisecond timer (200)" and
"HA_APB GBPAUD,M30: cannot set millisecond timer (200)" in my terminal.
And my terminal is slow down, almost freeze. What is the problem?

The v2v trading system is not a noob-friendly trading environment or chart setup to trade with as it requires a superhuman trading experience ; )─. More so... as the tools/indicators are too technical for a trader with a K.I.S.S. mindset. Although, once you get the hang of using this system, it adheres to "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." ; )─ Albert Einstein

Anyway, here are the steps that may solve your issue in setting up this system:

  1. Open the MT4 platform >>> press "Ctrl-O" ─it will pop-up an MT4 pop-up Window
...and make sure you have the parameters or value as highlighted.
...now close and open your MT4 platform again.
    Attached Image
  2. Use the attached tools to load the history (tick data of each instrument/pair) - limited up to 2048 bytes of initial file size (history data file) ─a platform limitation...run the application and simply follow the on-screen instructions. If you are not able to do this successfully, I suggest that you find another trading system or tool to use. There are tons of it in this domain alone.
...click to download this tool >>>Load history tool

  3. Now, open a blank chart with an instrument/pair
...see the attached image and check why you need these steps. If you don't get it... just move on to another system.
    Attached Image (click to enlarge)

Size: 50 KB

  4. To fix the issue identified in Step #3... simply follow the sub-step below:
─ open a blank chart (if you haven't yet)
─ set your chart accordingly as highlighted below chart image:
    Attached Image (click to enlarge)

Name: setup3.png
Size: 35 KB

  5. Press the "Home" key on your keyboard in order to show the current chart time frame data horizon. Such as, on M5 or M1 time frame - or any time frame that needed a much more tick data (volume) history to load on your chart.
─ Now, press "Pu" (page up button) on your keyboard... continue pressing it repeatedly and it will manually load more historical data to your chart.
─ You will need to do these for all the instruments/pairs or selectively the ones that you trade only
─ For the template maintenance... Reset the FXV template by simply pressing "Ctrl-B" >>> "Ctrl-A" >>> "Delete" button, and save as your default template

Note: The tools or indicators within the v2v trading system work in harmony with each other in terms of algorithm/parameters. Hence, if you attached it to your chart individually may not work fully or it may have issues.

  6. If at this point you were still not able to make it work.. please read the attached image. Thank you

...a much better way to load history data (tick volume)
Follow the steps below:

  1. Open an M1 chart
  2. Press "F2" key to load History Center
  3. Navigate to the currency pair and the "1 Minute (M1)" history data for the chart you have open in your terminal (be sure to "double click" the "1 Minute (M1)" selection in history center so it actually becomes the active selection)
  4. Then left-click once on any of the data rows in the right-hand window of the History Center (it doesn't matter which one)
  5. Click the "Add" button, this pops up another window titled "Bar" and the default selection is on the "year"
  6. Enter 1970
  7. Then select "OK"... and it creates a new bar with the timestamp and price info you just added.
  8. Now select "Close" in the History Center
  9. Navigate to your M1 chart of interest and then from the terminal menu select "Charts -> Refresh"...this will refresh the chart and attempts to fill any time gaps in the chart data (which now includes your year 1970 data point) with server data
Step 9 continued...Now your chart will have pulled anywhere from 2048 to 65536 M1 bars from your broker's server (not Metaquotes server) and is usually far more data than you can get the broker to cough up when you try and manually scroll your M1 chart back in time

Now you have really quickly downloaded all the broker's M1 data on your currency pair that the broker is going to let you have, much faster than holding down the home or pg-up key for minutes and minutes to download even fewer data. It works with charts of other timeframes as well.

Momenticks fused by v2v

Linear momentum is defined as the product of a system's mass multiplied by its velocity. In symbols, linear momentum is expressed as p = mv. Momentum is directly proportional to the object's mass and also its velocity. Thus the greater an object's mass or the greater its velocity, the greater its momentum.

1) Exponential Moving Average by Tim Tillson ─ regarded as the best MA out there by TA experts.

2) Jurik MA ─ an adaptive nonlinear transformation

3) Deviation-Scaled Moving Average (DSMA) ─ by John Ehler: DSMA is a data smoothing technique that acts like an exponential moving average with a dynamic smoothing coefficient.

4) Using Heiken Ashi ─ Average Price Bars: Close calculation with Best Formula

5) Volume-Weighted Price (psum = price/vsum) algorithm ─ an experimental one by mladen
