Hello Guys,

I have a question, if I use tick data suite(dukascopy 99.9% from eareview.net), on different brokers' MT4, and fix spread as 10 to do BT, does it matter with difference results?

Any advise will be appreciated.

Cheers.

...if I use tick data suite... from Birt ... does it matter...? Any advise will be appreciated.

Birt's suite gives you exactly that. Tick data. The answer to the question whether it matters or not depends fully on your strategy. If your strategy needs tick data to realize a perceived edge it will. If your strategy doesn't depend on tick data it will not.

In general for retail customers it is not recommended to play with strategies which depend on tick data.

Reason: Even if you have a statistically proven edge it is very difficult (very very difficult) to realize that edge with a retail platform as bad as MetaTrader.

If you are a retail trader (if you use MetaTrader you are one by definition) it is strongly recommended (advised) to focus on strategies which *DO NOT* depend on tick data.

How can I express this more clear? Birt's suite is amazing. But it will not help you in becoming a consistently profitable trader *IF* you are a retail trader.
On the opposite if you are *NOT* a retail trader you have plenty of other options (Birt being one of them) to test your strategies with high-quality history data.

I'll give you a moment to think about what I just wrote.

:-)

@emmzett I am told that if do strategy test on short TF M5(e.g. Asia session scalper EA) need high quality 99.9 TickData to check, since the TP is only few pips. Is it correct?

As a retail customer, just trying to get the lowest risk with any possibility, also it is fun to alter some parameters for some EAs.

Thank you very much for the comments.

HELP!!
Anybody facing same issue with Tick Data Suite?
I have back tested with tds for quite a while with no issues.
But starting recently, when i select M1 (usually for the stored .fxt file from downloaded tick data), the tester doesn't use the stored .fxt file.
It runs the actual M1 from the platform.

Hi , I need help too :
I dont understand the Tab "Margin" and the parameter "Margin Mode" in Tick Data Suite

When this parameter is unchecked, the AccountFreeMargin() function return a Freemargin near the account equity but if this field is checked, the Margin is very big.

Have you ever use the settings in the Margin Tab ?
Thank u
