It is to do with the Fonts, you will need to download into your fonts folder. See post #1

FontName: used for plotting the histograms, this should be either CSM or Placard MT Condensed, which are available in the Fonts folder in the zip file. For help with installing fonts, see this. The histogram is actually the letter 'I' repeated many times, after having been rotated onto its side. You can try using other fonts, but those two are the best that I've found. The screenshot below shows the difference in the histograms using the 'CSM.TTF' font (above) and the 'PLCC__.TTF' (Placard MT Condensed) font (below).

Copy the font and paste into your computer C:\Windows\Fonts

Assuming you're referring to the image in post #16, it can happen when SmoothingSMA is set to a value > 1.

Just wanted to know if it is normal behavior: when we scroll the chart to the left, the trend summary goes to the right and disappears.

Yes, it's normal behavior. Histogram was originally plotted using fixed-position text labels. Summary was added later, and being line-based it must use buffers, which means it scrolls with price.

Thanks for your kind words.

Nobody has replied, so I will give you my opinion, albeit as a programmer rather than a pro trader.

The screenshot shows the parameters I tend to use. The highlighted ones, which control the calculation, are explained in the 'Calculation' section in post #1. Basically summing/averaging a lower number of candles makes the indicator more responsive to price movement on the selected timeframe(s), a higher number of candles less so. But it's case of experimenting with different values until you find one that you feel comfortable with. Beyond that, there's no definitive answer; it's like asking which is the best moving average to use. Ask 10 different people and you'll probably get 10 different answers.

I posted some general thoughts on strength meters here fwiw.

Hello hanover, I'm happy that you came back to FF. I need your help if you can. When I put the indicator on the chart don't appear the NZD and CAD bars showing the results. So I compiled the original mq4 file again but occur some errors, and unfortunately I'm zero no programming. By the way, this is one of the best CSM so far. Thanks.

I'm running the attached version of the indicator (should be the same as that in post #1) on MT4 build 1170 with the settings shown below. It has worked fine for me for many years, just like in the screenshot. Logically, if you're using the same version with the same settings, the problem must lie elsewhere, e.g. different MT4 version, different broker with different data.

Because the indicator has to initially obtain historical data for 28 pairs x 9 timeframes, it could take several minutes to gather this data when you attach it for the first time. It depends on the speed of your internet connection and your broker's server. You could try running the application here.

Re the compile errors, see this. However, you could simply delete the .mq4 file from your computer, to ensure that the compile errors aren't causing problems.

Sorry but I can't troubleshoot further because I don't know anything about your computer setup. It looks like you've installed the font correctly, and I can't think of anything else. Nobody else has reported the same problem.

If you can't get the indicator to work, there are links to many other strength meters in the green typeface here. More general info on strength meters here.

Thanks hanover, the problem was solved. I started with the most basic, I create a demo account to see if the data receive would be different. Now all is fine.
The better thing about this indicator is not the math behind this or something else, but the design showing the strength of multiple timeframes in clear way, fast and simple to understand.

Please invest your time & effort and carefully read post #1 on this thread. I promise you what you need to know is already there waiting for you to read it.

All you need is the CSM original.ex4 file, and the CSM.TTF font, in the zip file.

3. Exit and then restart MT4.
4. From MT4's Navigator, drag the CSM indicator onto your price chart, and just use the default settings. Later you can experiment with the settings.

If you can't get the indicator to work, there are zillions of other CSMs, you can find a few of them from the links in the green typeface here.

thanks for the indicator, i however noticed that on the summary section, AUD is always at the top while usd is at the bottom not minding whether they are the weakest or strongest.

can you make the overall strongest currency to be at the top while the overall weakest always moves to the bottom irrespective of timeframe

Hello sir,

Sorry but currently I don't have time to modify the CSM indicator.

If you want a list of currencies sorted from highest to lowest, try the attached indicator. It also provides alerts. I didn't create it, and don't use it myself, but I assume that it works correctly.

Also, there are zillions of other CSMs, you can find a few of them from the links in the green typeface here. Or use a search engine like Google.
