For myself, I tried to share a "method" on another forum and although a number of people were interested, my thread was constantly disrupted by those who were afraid they would lose their guru status if someone was allowed to post something new and different that actually worked.
I was accused of trying to sell something, of being 10 different people on the forum, and all sorts of nonsense until I just gave up. I received lots of PMs from people who were interested, but this is the first post I've made anywhere since then and I'll never try to introduce anything again.
Now, I'm a forex newbie who is actually trading successfully and was willing to help other newbies avoid the "paying your dues" trap, but why should I go through all that grief for nothing?
I was on yet another forum awhile back where the same thing happened to someone else. He was talking about fundamentals, and was willing to teach. The response was huge, but the self-appointed hall monitors kept harrassing him until he just stopped posting.
The monitors and their groupies are so afraid of losing their status, not to mention worried that someone might sell something, that successful traders aren't going to waste their time and energy. That's why all you get is ten-thousand versions of tweaked indicator strategies from other wannabe's. They don't work, they never worked, and they never will work, no matter how many hours you spend backtesting them. But if anyone who knows tries to tell you about what does work, they'll be accused of guerilla marketing.
