Do you keep a journal of your trades?

I am posting this here in Discussions because it is not a journal, but a discussion of journals.

I was looking for some freeware software to use to make audio/video
presentations, that I could post on another forum where I have a strategy
thread. I found something called O'ripa and it served my purpose. The video left a little to be disired bbut the audio was good, and the price was right.

A couple of days ago I had an idea. I have never been good at keeping a journal. I will write down entries and exits, but if I want to review it at a later
date, that information does not really tell me anything about why I took the trade. So now I will keep an audio/video journal. All I have to is "talk" to myself about why, where and when I am entering or exiting a trade.
I will be file them by date for easy reference. If this works out, I will look to upgrade to some commercial software.

Excellent idea, Mystic! I could use something like this to keep track of my own trading.

Great Idea - I take screen shots of the trade and then enter the info and attach the screenshot - but using an audio 'diary' also had not occured to me. Thank you for the idea.

you could use camtasia software to record your trades with audio and visual. It isn't free but it isn't too expensive either for its capabilities.

I have seen Camtasia in action and it looks good. I just want to make sure an audio/ video will work for me, then I would be willing to spend the money.
That's a great ideea. All the time i had problems regarding my screenshot's over the text.

Been looking for something like this.
The video/audio journal idea is great for those with different learning styles. Here's a thought, how about doing this while in the process of trading. Talking to yourself as you walk through the decision making process can be very enlightening later when you review it. Let us know if you do this, it could prove to be very useful.

I think it's a great idea. Let us know how it goes.
I spent sometime last night with a Audio/Video app - playing with it and as Dopey says - this may be an awesome tool for reviewing trades and thought process as it was being put on. I am going to start using it in this fashion also.
I was concerned about the size of the file - but a 45 second video - saved as a flash file - only consumed 168KB after converted to an .htm file - I click on it and it opens in my browser.

I was gonna pm you but this would be good for all to see. What app are you using for this? I'd like to give it a try. I talk to myself all the time, I might as well record it for posterity...or damning evidence.

As a bonus I put it onto a CD and have been using to capture errors and record fixes at work - it's easier to send the actual output via a video than to try to explain over the phone.

its revolutionary, instead of screenshoots, comentaires + powerpoint for demostration...all u do is turn the movie on,..and trade, when done close the movie,....but resize the view to fit the screen, and when google it,..include download verb....thanks.

I think Windows media encoder can do that, It is free from microsoft.

I have a blog diary where I post up my trades, write down all my forex thoughts. Answer my own questions. Post up images of each trade etc...
