If you want to pocket 15,000 plus pips a month, running a group of EA's is the only answer. I currently run a portfolio of 5 profitable EA's at present but am aiming for a full folio of 7.
Each one is balanced to offset a weakness of another EA in the folio like trading a Trending strategy EA next to a Reversal strategy EA. So they work together as a team to " Harvest Pips " to make my monthly wage. The EA does not have to have a good profit factor, just robust enough to trade many charts profitability.

There is a lot you need to understand in conception EA design.

1.. The idea and planning of a EA on a spreadsheet
2.. The build itself considering the design to balance out your portfolio, the entry signal, the time interval of the chart, the exit strategy and the profit goal.
3.. The testing stage parameters to avoid under or over optimization of the EA.
4.. The testing period parameters.
5.. The Demo testing timelines with set target guidelines.
6.. Beta testing on a small scale on live charts.
7.. Final stage full live trading.

About 12 months work if you want to survive as a EA trader
This current EA when live in November - one of five I have designed, build and now trading at present.

It is a news trading strategy. It analyze the value of the news (actual and forecast) and if there is a good condition it trade.
This strategy is all automated and set up thanks to a very long report on the reaction of currencies to the economic news values...If economic world scenario change program will be update every time.
Results is different from broker to broker. For example in my myfxbook statements you can see:
1) Purple trading : our best broker (for this strategy) in 2017 (actually no)
2) Blackpearlfx = our best broker (for this strategy) in 2018 (actually not the best but is good)
3) Cccapital = actually our best broker
We can use also ctrader accounts.
