Again sorry for the late update on this.

24 January at 0.00 GMT, there was a full Setup, QQEA was in agreement, stop loss would be put 204.85 (yeah, its a 400 pips SL, the reason for that is high volatility), but position size would be smaller like I said in previous posts.
As I speak the position is actually with a 425 pips profit.

This trade was closed at 25 January 20.00 GMT bar close, with a 310 pips profit, it was a full setup, risking 1500$ the profit was 1162$ due to the small position

look at this chart , the bar open at 16:00, close 20:00, we call a "flag bar".
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/2011/54188691oq0.png

the gann of the previous bar is 212.15, so when the "flag bar" open at 16:00, the TS is 212.15 - 75 = 211.40, and the low of "flag bar" is 211.10, so why your trade was closed at 25 January 20.00 GMT bar close, it should be ts before the bar close?

Is some wrong with me? give some help, thanks

Sorry, I'm a little confused.

The TS rule is :
Emergency Trailing Stop - Its when price pierces gann hilo previous value by 75 pips.

On this chart
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/8540/47142354db1.png

When the 12:00 bar close, the gann is fixed, value is 212.15, and gann is below the price.
when the 16:00 bar open, the price 212.73, so gann is below the price too.
according to the ts rulerice pierces gann hilo previous value by 75 pips.but right now the price is above the gann, price pierces gann hilo previous value by 75 should equal 212.15 - 75, so should be 75 pips below Gann hilo, why be 75 pips above gann?
And the 16:00 bar low is 211.10,the 12:00 bar's gann(212.15) - 75 = 211.40, so the 16:00 bar price has pierces the gann hilo previous value by 75 pips, why that trade close at the close of 16:00,not close by Ts.

Sorry for wasting time to explain this. Many thanks :-)

mana

we were in a long trade and price was above the Gann line and the value of Gann line according to your chart as you say was 212.15 on your 12:00 closed bar and so your stop would be at 211.40 (Gann line minus 75); on the 16:00 bar price moved down and stopped you out of your long position at the same time during the 16:00 bar Gann line moved above the price bar therefore on close of the 16:00 bar a short position was established, now the stop for this short position is 45 pips above Gann line of the trigger bar which is the 16:00 bar.

On close of the new 20:00 bar you should move your stop to 75 pips above Gann line at this bar.

This long trade was not stoped out by the ts according to this post.
This long trade setup at 24 January at 0.00 GMT, so the entry price is 208.86, but this trade 310 pips profit, 208.86 + 310 = 211.96.
so the close price is 211.96. 211.96 is 16:00 bar close price, not the TS price 211.40.

Do i express clearly ? need your help :-)

This means that a short signal has been triggered before the stop was hit and therefore the long trade has been reversed to short at the close of the trigger bar which was the 16:00 4hr bar that is at 20:00 GMT on the 25th.

It should be noted that the values of open and close of the bars differ according to various platforms, for instance mine is quite different as my bars open at 15:00 and close at 19:00 GMT, however in the long run the overall performance does not differ that much.

Hi memphis:

It has been more than one month since you have posted any updates to this thread.

I wonder if you could check in on this thread to let us know how you are doing in your live trading. I know that you have posted the final update on your completed backtesting.

It would be nice to hear from you every month or so to see what thoughts and insights you may have gained as you go forward each month.

Thank you for this very good thread.

cheers.

Hi M:

I was thinking through your system and I want to comment on the advantage of using such a small position sizing (ie using larger time frames and bigger stops means that your position sizing is smaller).

This way, swap and spread is less of an issue. This means you can trade both long and short on the GY and the spread and negative swap is not a big portion of your cost.

This is a great idea. I like your system because it can be traded in a very relaxed manner.

cheers.

Hi Masmp:

I have read through this entire thread and would like liek to comment on one thing:

I know that you said that you took a year or so to test this system.

You said that for over six months, you had been staring at the computer screen for 1/2 of the day going bar by bar.

Wouldn't it have been easier to learn to code in MQL4 and just run back testing?

I am just talking about efficient allocation of time.

The amount of time it would have taken to learn MQL4 would have been about a 1/4 of what you spend on testing the system bar by bar.

Furthermore, with an EA, you could easily change parameters at your finger tips and test 10's or 100's of different configurations.

[ I am speaking from experience. I am a guy who learned coding just recently. And I am now, finally, able to go through backtesting of my systems with just a few clicks of the mouse. In fact, I am currenly running a 22 hour optimization back testing on one of my systems that I converted to an MQL4 EA.]

I am going to look into the same conversion of your wonderful system. I think it would make a neat EA.

Cheers.

Hallo Longtang!

Have you gotten anywhere with your EA project? Unfortunately the thread is really quiet and I thought that after Masmp got that reactivity QQE(A) it would really go through the roof.

If you have some beta version I would love to test it. We are in a testing bonanza on the Supernova thread anyways, so there is always a platform or computer to spare.

@Masmp: Keep up the good work. Even if some people did not get the impact so far - this system works and it is simple and solid at the same time. If the possible EA has some MM features, the thing will run and run!

Have a good week, both of you!
Greetings!
Gnat

Hi Foks!

It sort of hurts to see this system wither away. It is surely worth the effort. Masmp... please rethink your withdrawal from here and get back to work on it.

Hav a good week!
