I'll ask the question here while I await Craig's response...

What red high impact news are you all avoiding? Some high impact news I don't think really matter too much and can be traded through.. Are you applying the news to all pairs? Thoughts??

Thanks. I see there is little change between this post and the manual. Again, thanks for clarifying.

Just realised on this new v3 forum, there is not many photos to show you what the actual Forex Breakout Direction Indicator looks like.

Below is a screen shot of my MT4 platform from 30.03.16 on the USDCHF, at 8am London time then 4pm London time

More screen shots to see at www.forexbreakout.co.uk

I've been trying to figure out why the set & forget system is not performing as well as I thought it would do.

When I started the manual system, I was taking a manual note on how would a set & forget system perform if it was active. It appeared to out perform the manual trading system, hence why I started a second live account and started to officially record the set & forget figures.

The issue is the rules. The rules on set & forget are wrong, which is not giving the set & forget an opportunity to trade at its best.

I will explain what I mean.

On the manual system the rules is to only trade on a currency pair where red news is out, IF you can close the order around 12pm London time
On the set & forget system, you do not trade a pair if any news is out on that currency pair.

However, if you look at the previous manual results (and even take today's results as an example) IF the set and forget system mirrored the manual system on trading pairs regardless of the news, it would perform a lot better then the manual system.

Where I close my manual orders around 12pm to safe guard the pips just in case the news hits my stop loss, the results on set & forget would had hit the take profit levels. Of course there will be some trades that will hit the stop loss levels, but looking back on previous charts and trading, the pips banked out way the pips hit on set & forget.

As from tomorrow the set & forget will mirror the manual system, which I'm sure will see an improved performance on this system

Regards
Craig

a other thing is the tp and sl for all pairs the same.

each pair have a other dayrange. like a euraud or eurgbp with sometimes 150 to 200 pips and eurchf have a dayrange from 30-40 pips.

when tp3 and 4 for eurchf is 60 and 100 pips, normaly never will hit. and the sl with 40 pips is nearly a complete dayrange for eurchf.

for euraud or gbpaud a sl with 40 is most of the time to small, but the tps, normaly will take easy when breakout in the right direction.... hope you understand what i mean with my english

I do understand what you mean. I have not done any mega detail with this. I've wanted to create a "one size fits all" system, howvere I do take your point regarding day range etc.

This is on my agenda to look at as I improve the system, but for now it's the same TP and SL for all the pairs.

We spoke about ATR on whatsapp a few days ago, I just can't seem to find a good enough ATR setting to use...

atr for a morning breakout dont work..... at the moment i adjust always my tps myself. i look at the average range from last, 10-60ays from the pair and this is set as tp4, other tp i make always depend of the pair in 10- 20 pipsteps less for tp1, tp2 and tp3.

sl i didnt adjust at the moment. because dont have a idea... i thought about to take the other side from the range as sl... but this could be to large for some trades....

atr is good in trending market, but on breakout, sometimes price come back and then hit sl for nothing.

maybe other members have a good idea for the sl.

for the settings that the ea now have ( for each pair same settings) its only solution a equitymanager, that close all with 3 % profit or so... that works fine in the past, but i taked the equitygoal always to high 5-6 % ... but with 2-3 % normaly you dont have a problem to make this every day average... but here is the problem, you can miss a big run, and miss 10-15 % sometimes.

my equitymanaer now trail the equity profit.... only fault i make in the past was, that i let start to trail to late and i taked to high equitygoal

thats wehy we are here for learn and make the best with this system. because the system is great... i like .... and the support from craig is great too

edit: other idea could be for tp 2 or 3 the size from the range and tp4 the avg 10-60 days range

Come on traders, if I develop this system, what ATR should I use to set stop loss and TP's levels?

If I shouldn't be using ATR, what other method should I use?

Your ideas, suggestions and comments are very welcome...

Regards

Craig
