C'mon Brain, like you often say ... it's not the app, it is the user ... nothing wrong with Excel, nothing wrong with Pivots, nothing wrong with CCFp, nothing wrong with your strategy BtB ... it is all about understanding how to use what you have and of course one thing that most traders don't have and that is patience.
So many want to make 10% a day ... I personally don't believe 10% is consistently possible, unless you are Husky ,
so I will stay happy with my meager 1%.

I only commented my experience with excel. If you use an app not work out of box with their own files then we have a bad deal. But if you think I'm low user then its ok. Excel is not for me

I never had a problem with Excel, maybe it is the version you have ... I know your ability is outstanding ...

Long time ago i tried Jibala excel. I tried with all Excel versions ( newest too ) and always had problem with parsing. Even after modify settings for read Jibala data. You didn't have any problem? Then good for you but i never had problem for run any indicator in MT4 while i had fight with excel options for run a simple excel like Jibala.

Anyway Excel is not best platform for process forex data. For that you have R language for example. Regards

And speed, even with pipe it was too slow, the reason I moved away from Excel even though Speedo did work and produce profits ... now I'm back to the future ...

Does anyone know the Excel works on Excel / Office 2019 Pro Plus? Just got a new laptop and thinking if installing the latest version of Office will still work with the excels . Thanks

I have a question please in my second post in this thread https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=944826

The answer to my question in my second post will be critical if I wish to proceed with an Excel RTD. I have posted the question in MQL5, in Excel forums, emailed FX Blue Labs, and my broker and still waiting for a response.

When resolved, I intend to make the thread a road map for how to apply all formulas and heatmaps in
Excel, apply TA, etc.. and then backtesting. Generally speaking, my aim from applying TA in Excel is that I want to create scanners for CFDs on Shares. But first I will try to accomplish it with Forex pairs then I will move on with the acquired knowledge to apply the same on shares.

If any of the valuable Excel Brainiacs in this thread have a look at my thread and my second post will be very much appreciated. I know many traders wish to get a kick start with Excel.

I do not want to clutter this thread with my Excel questions. I thought it is not the right place. That is why I pointed out my thread.

It was very exciting to read it all and the evolution of this thread, sadly -no constructive conclusions. Unless someone can truly admit, that the GAP strategy really worked for him/her for more than 2 months? I understand that forex hates anomalies, but up to some extend it can sometimes tolerate them, and given the fact, that this GAP strategy is (as every other) 66% effective at most- it might work in long term, but you guys were still talking about M15, M30… please give me an honest answer, it there anyone here, who made profits of it on real account making more than 1000 trades?

Its not the GAP theory is the problem its the willingness to see that the GAP is just an indicator of Price Action......There are other parts you need to add to get a better grasping of what Market makers are really doing....Like support and resistance for example....Just get a proper charting package and look at plain candle stick chart. In short GAP is more than just a space

Can someone direct me to the specific Excel Spreadsheet that best expresses the GAP theory?
Also, I have two more questions:
1-I downloaded some spreadsheets from the thread and noticed a couple of them have VBAs for executing orders. Is there a specific API being used or is it a bridging app/indi to connect with MT4? I do not have much experience with VBAs.
2-With the GAP theory, we need a previous reading to be compared with the current one. I do not think the DDE would allow this unless there is an API or a specific indicator/script that does the bridging.

I do not think the orders in these spreadsheets (in this thread) are using Excel RTD through FX Flue Labs.

I will say why I am asking. The reason is that the ranking is different from the ones I use in Excel.

There are many ways of manipulating data. I will mention two of them that do not rely on indicators like ROC,MAs, RSI, etc..
The first one is the standard popular one in which we measure the price level relevant to its the high and low of each Time Frame. For example in the Daily time frame of GBPJPY, if the price is at 70 percent of its (High - Low) range, this means it is bullish by 70 percent (i.e 30 percent less than its high). Then we take an average of all the seven pairs in each of the 8 currency groups. After that we can rank the pairs. Some traders would give a rank of 1-9 or just use the averaged percentage.

I have it formulated in Excel as in these two photos

The same values and formula can be extracted from Hanover indicator for CSM as in this photo (in the subwindow)

If you examine the top left of the above photo, you will find USD ranking is quite different. The other currencies' rankings are not quite far from each other but USD is quite off in Modoki HeatMap indicator.

The second formula which I do not have an indicator for but I have done it in Excel is to calculate the percentage change based on the Previous Close as in this photo

Price in the current candle can be 50 percent more or less than the previous candle or even (+/-)200 percent of the previous one. When I compared Modoki HeatMap indicator with my rankings based on the Previous close, they did not match.

Of course, there might be other ways of calculating based on indicators or such.


It is important for anyone who wants to trade with any indicator (CSM or any other) to understand the basic math or formula behind it first. This is not to say this formula is better or worse than another but to understand the calculations and see how the readings represent the market.

Mt4 trading platform is the mostly used trading platform by traders. The tools on this platform can be easily understood. Mt5 is rarely used trading platform.
Mt4 is the widely used trading platform. Understanding the mt4 trading platform is quite easier than the mt5 one. You will find all the technical tools available on mt4 trading platform.
